Any coach leaving a great situation to replace Cal was gonna have it tough, and that's not what you want.

UK was tired of Cal, but a short list coaching hire was gonna be expected to immediately improve on what Cal had done the past few years.

If this guy is terrible, they can move on in a couple of years.

If he's great, then they'll get the last laugh.

The downside is if he's just good. Since not much is expected of him and the fanbase is upset, he'd probably be seen as better than Cal if he just gets UK a first round win and a sweet 16 showing the next couple of years.

Then you're back to "do you fire or not fire?"

But if he's as bad as you all think, in a couple of years they'll be able to get a really good hire to follow this guy.

I'm not sure being kicked square in the nuts this hard could ever be a good thing. They may have to have them removed

It sets them up in a much better position to get their next coach in my opinion if he fails.

If he's great, they get to laugh at you.

If he's good, well, they'll be the same as they are now. Which is still a top three to four team in the conference. That's probably the worst case scenario.
