Why is this storm tracking to the West? I can't recall seeing this before...usually they head North then East.

They get steered by other parts of the atmosphere. There is a low pressure to the northwest of it and a high pressure to the east and it's going between them.
It's also moving very fast. Low pressures rotate counter clockwise, high pressures rotate clockwise(in the northern hemisphere). And it's going right between them, so both of them are pushing it north fast.
I'm no meteorologist, but my assumption for the west turn has something to do with the low pressure pushing it in a counter clockwise direction and then they end up combining since both are low pressures and that jumps it over. But the overall low pressure will keep moving to the east after.
