What stands out to me is the depth of his addiction. Gambling to me, a non addict & non gambler, betting on W / L's, the point spread, etc. is what most consider "gambling". He was going to Red's MLB games & betting on balls & strikes. An addiction is an addiction but the ban on gambling, for every sport , is probably the widest-known rule in sports.

You are not a 20 year old looking to party and impress your friends. Big difference.

Sorsby is ineligible the NCAA rule is clear and he has admitted to the violation. The issue at this point is Sorsby was smart and played the system to gain the ability to play based on the courts being to slow to process the cases. He will ultimately be ruled ineligible based on NCAA rules he is just delaying the inevitable. What the NCAA needs to do if they really want to prevent him from playing is tell TECH they will still be able to play him and the games but they will forfeit the games for playing an ineligible player. That is well within their right to inform TECH of this course of action TECH wont be being punished for following the injunction; they will be punished for lack of institutional control which is not part of the court order.
