Well, to be fair..Vandy actually played a real football team this week. YOU. DID. NOT.

I'm gonna go ahead and say mizzou has one of the most respectable non-con schedules in the league. We are playing 2 BCS conference teams, UCF in Orlando, and only 1 cupcake which we dominated.

Once you beat an SEC team.

Not named Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, or Ole Miss

The Vols are down right now so that does not get you there like it used to and Auburn is in flux.

You need to beat a good SEC school. It also helps if you beat another conference top dog in your non conference. Last year the Cocks took down Clemson. The Tide took out Penn State. LSU went for the double tap with Oregon and West Virginia

Talk is cheap in the SEC, you actually gain your cred on the field of battle.

First its the old poll

Second vegas is taking into account possible suspensions, the poll has not.

Third you may need to call a hotline and stay away from sharp objects

FWIW the line is now -3 1/2 UGA.

I would say it will rise again once CMR says the suspended players are back.

I can empathize, however, I don't even like preseason rankings and wouldn't mind one bit if the polls didn't kick in until a few games have been played. Besides, beyond the Alabama and LSU rankings, it's all a shot in the dark in re: to accuracy.

Consider this: For the most part, it's all about "positioning". Without having to play teams like Alabama, LSU, and a select few other teams during the season, what better way could teams like USC have a chance at being ranked #1 or being positioned for a chance at the NC game, in the event they have a regular season loss.

I do have a question tho. I didn't watch the game. Did DGB play the entire game ? Why did he only come up with 30 yards against SELA ?

DGB didn't play the whole game. Due to pouring rain for a lot of the game, they didn't throw as much as usual. And nine different guys caught passes last night, so they really spread it around when they did throw the ball.

Sas, it'll be OK. Polls are meaningless this early, you know that. The preseason poll is making the assumption that we'll have more losses in the SEC. We have to play the games and prove them wrong. Let's be content to fly under the radar for a while, and let things work themselves out on the field.

Stop bitchin'. You're in the SEC now. You can earn your ranking on the field.

The obvious answer is that there is no relation between polls and betting lines. Frankly, while I'll root for Mizzou and think we have a decent chance at pulling off an upset, I would imagine the smart money would be on Georgia if they're only giving up 2 or even 3 1/2 as said.

Thank god

You're right. Missouri isn't ranked the top 10, Missouri has never won a national title, Missouri has a very apathetic fan base, Missouri has shitty facilities, Missouri is poor, you get the point...
