Orange is not a true color. It's not on the spectrum. It's literally brown with lighter shades over it. True story.

Actually it is on the color spectrum between red and yellow.
Which are also the two primary colors you mix to get orange.

I'm a biologist who's taking mycology in grad school and as an undergrad.
It's pronounced Spor-an-gee-a. It doesn't rhyme. At all.
