Everyone thought theyd be okay even after losing the talent on D they lost.

Transitional property is hardly a good metric. But it is more than worth noting..

UNC lost to App State. This is horrid, although it doesnt tell the whole story. They would have taken Clemson into OT if they hadnt gone for two.

Trevor Lawrence has thrown more interceptions this year than he did all last year.

Benefits of playing on a better team in 2018? Or maybe letting his instant fame go to his head. Either way , his QB play has devolved.

Their best win (Texas A&M) has now been exposed as weak twice now. A home loss to Auburn and a squeaker against an Arkansas team that dropped one to San Jose State.

The top dogs in the SEC would have destroyed Clemson the day they played UNC.

This is not the same Clemson. The magic is gone. This is 2014 FSU part 2.

Counter point, Clemson does this every year around the middle of the season and by December/January they are clicking.

Yeah I stopped reading here. Clemson very well could be overrated but stop using transitional property.

I think they're playing to the competition. They'll coast through the regular season undefeated. They blew the doors off TAMU.. I know TAMU isn't good, but that game wasn't as close as the score suggests. Sleepwalking through the ACC schedule IS dangerous.

I do, however, agree with your FSU comparison. Clemson will no doubt get in the CFP but might get wore out in the semis.

But they've done it with NFL front 7...that ain't there this year. At least not yet.

Clemson's history of near losses illustrates what makes the SEC different. In 2017 UGA was very good. One month before we took the National Championship game into OT, we were getting our shite pushed in at JH. A game we were never in, had 0% chance of winning that day.

AU goes on to beat Bama the very next game....and they didn't even make the dam playoffs.

That is the SEC right there.

There isn't a team in the top team that doesn't look overrated compared to usual top 10 teams. Half don't have defenses and the other doesn't have offenses.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not unusual for Clemson to start slowly and peak towards the end of the season/playoffs.

However, it is not easy to sustain the kind of success they have had over a long period of time. Complacency, entitlement and getting everyone's best game are all real things and hard for coaches to overcome when dealing with 18-22 year olds.

We will see, their schedule may just be weak enough that they can get away with it and possibly turn it on for the playoffs.

Whether or not I start threads about them, Clemson fans will be here regardless. And one of the teams here will be playing them. Again.

I just happen to think theyre overrated.

Same thing every year.
2015: “Clemson barely beat USC team that lost to the Citadel”
2016 National Champions: “Clemson barely beat Troy, NC State and lost to Pitt”
2017: “Clemson lost to Syracuse”
2018 National Champions: Clemson barely beat Syracuse

Previous years do not factor into this year. UNC is bad.

I don't know man. That Defense, and most certainly TL, don't look the same this year. But it's early.

UNC is not bad. Playing lots of young talent with a true freshman QB. 2-3 playing the nation's 3rd hardest schedule. The three losses have come to 3 teams that are undefeated (Clemson, Wake and App). Watch UNC compete for the Coastal this year and perhaps get a rematch with the Tigers.

You'll see how "easy" App is when they travel to Columbia later this year.

Ohio State is the exception.

And their schedule hasn’t been tough - but tougher than a lot of teams to this point.

3-2 FAU (45-21)
3-1 Cincy (42-0)
@ 3-2 Indiana (51-10)
2-3 Miami (OH) (76-5)
@ 3-2 Nebraska (48-7)

Trevor had really high expectations but the offensive stats are the same or better going all the way back to Watson’s teams.

Clemson is a good team. At this point, they are not great but hasn't that been the case every year. They'll be in the mix and they greatly benefit from subpar opponents thus eliminating great risk of injury, etc.

Our offense hasn’t really “clicked” yet, and was bad in the UNC game. I’m hoping the team follows the same trend as prior seasons and rounds into elite form in the 2nd half of the season.

I think one of the factors in Clemson’s early season slow starts has to do with Dabo playing a lot of 3rd, 4th and 5th stringers in the games. While this helps with building depth and gets buy in from everyone on the team, it HAS to hurt the rhythm and flow of the offense. I also think the early season play calling is ultra conservative, which doesn’t help. That’s my theory anyway...

I think Clemson having a close call in the UNC game, falling in the polls, getting bashed in the media and then having and off week to stew on it really plays into Dabo’s hands as a team motivation tool. If I hadn’t seen this pattern before, I’d be panicking....
