If they are penalized enough for this loss and left out, one of two things will happen. Either they will expand the CFP to 16 teams or a mass boycott of conference championship games by teams will happen. I don’t see the committee wanting to do either.

expanding to 16 teams is 100% guaranteed, regardless of anything that happens in this season

Nah. The fact is we should be letting teams into the playoff to answer questions we don’t the answer to.
Theres nothing wrong with getting placed into a fun, competitive bowl game.
We know bama sucks. Give other teams a shot.
