The whole game was like that. The ref had to talk to Tebow and the UGA D captain to tell them to calm down.
A couple of times that could have easily turned into UM / FIU from a couple of years ago. I mean minus the announcers saying they wished they were down there fighting...

That was early in the game. The play was blown dead for a pre-snap offensive penalty (illegal motion maybe??) Spikes came across the line and hit Ealey helmet to helmet and Ealey responded with the shove shown in the photo.
There was no call for either player's unsportsmanlike conduct.

I don't get it... its a rivalry game and there was all kinds of dirty crap going on from both sides. I'm not going to defend Spikes, what he did was clearly wrong, but Georgia did every bit as much... they just didn't get a CBS closeup of it.
Spikes got caught and got a light punishment. Considering everything else going on out there (like when Spikes got his helmet ripped off and 5s later someone planted their helmet in his forehead) it is what it is. Georgia players were jawing at him all game and throwing late shoves and pushes.
This is football. What he did was wrong but to pretend he was the only one out there doing it is crazy. Tebow got poked in the eye at the bottom of a pile on a 3rd down that we didn't convert. They showed him on the sideline flushing it.
Whatever, its football, it happens. He got caught and got his slap on the wrist.

So you didn't see what prompted it? Early in the game (I think it was the first UGA offensive series), there was a false start called on UGA. Ealey had already received the hand-off but the whistle had blown, so he had basically stopped. Spikes came through and gave Ealey a helmet-to-helmet shot ... not full speed, but an obvious attempt to intimidate.
Spikes is a talented player, but does some bush-league stuff on the field.

Spikes acts like an arse and thug in every game. He was constantly talking to trash to LSU fans during the LSU game, punting the ball into the stands after his pick 6 last year, etc. He continues to do this nonsense because Meyer doesn't care about anything other than winning.

The Nick Williams hit should have been called if it wasnt.
However, and this is just my homer opinion, but Ealey standing up and reaching for a guy in that situation is a hell of a lot more defendable than a guy gouging another when he is defenseless. A heat of the moment deal as opposed to a cowardly way to try to hurt someone. Just my $.02.

That is not a legal hit on a QB that is standing there defenseless while the play is carrying on downfield.

The only thing I respect about anything related the University of Florida is Tim Tebow. He is all class and plays his heart out. Everyone else is trash.
