Considering Tennessee played in it in 04 and 07 doesn’t really back up the claim that 01 was the downfall. Tennessee’s downfall was replacing Fulmer with a coach who left after one year. Tajh Boyd was coming to Tennessee but Kiffin didn’t want him so he went to Clemson. Kiffin gutted the program even further by signing a bunch of douchers who were kicked off the team or left the program when Kiffin did. The 08 and 09 classes were essentially non existent on top of Derek Dooley being a terrible head coach set Tennessee on a path that would have taken several years to overcome with a good coach much less Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt.
