no if we would have hid our elderly, went about our lives the virus would have burnt itself out by now and we would be back to normal by sept, with no more deaths than we do now, an economy that was the envy of the world and a herd immunity. The fact that a virus with a 99.78 recovery rate is getting any press is a tragedy in itself.

You suggested that “protestors” wearing masks while gathering in close proximity for hours at a time are no significant threat to spread the virus.

If that’s the case, then why is there any concern related to football? Allow 75% attendance and require masks if they are so effective.

The reality is, masks are far less effective than you are suggesting, particularly when 80% of people wear them incorrectly and/or constantly fiddle with them and touch all over their face.

It isn't just the elderly. It is people with a lot of conditions. We have profesional athletes who are opting out of playing because they have diabetes or other issues. Even if you don't die you can have a really bad time. Freddie Freeman of the braves obviously healthy had this hitt him like a ton of bricks and after talking to him Markakis decided to sit out the upcoming MLB season.

If the SEC is dead set on a season, every player needs an option to sit out with no loss of eligibility if they don't feel comfortable playing. That is the only way this works.

Compared to normal idiots who refuse to wear masks. Masks are far more effective than you are suggesting. They are just too hard for people to wear. The burden of a mask is heavy, very heavy. Muh FREEEDOM they say too.

Once the writing was on the wall that stadiums would not be full you knew this was coming. This purely a money issue but they need to say it’s for safety to get out of the contracts.

No school is paying a test 800k or million + to play in front of 15k or no people. The home schools would take be taking a bath for a rent a win.

Shocker, re-used cloth masks aren’t that effective!

More effective than just mouth breathing with no covering at the very least.

Then the best players will sit out and that will help even out the talents when game are set to play this year!

People who riot, who throw bricks, who smash windows, who loot, who beat up or kill fellow Blacks, and Whites, tend not to follow CDC health guidelines!

Are we all gonna ignore the fact that the spike didn't occur until the protests started?

I wear a mask. But why did all the doctors and media tell us at the beginning of this mess that wearing a mask would not keep you from getting the virus? I’ll tell you why because they lie to us about everything and the sheep eat it up as usual!
Are There are a lot more people catching the virus now or are they testing a lot more people so they now know how many have it?
The death rate is falling so, are we now treating the patients better or is it that we know more people have it because of more and better testing?
Football should go on and if your afraid or have issues stay home and watch the game like I will!

Yes, we are. And we're also going to ignore the fact that this spike was expected due to the fact that states are beginning to re-open. The virus was still out there and wasn't going anywhere. Which is why I don't understand what locking down again will do.

Actually, when the right mask is worn correctly, it can help. But putting a bandana over your mouth without a good seal is not very effective at all and probably more damaging as it gives the wearer a false sense of security. Those protesters were definitely not social distancing plus they were yelling and propelling droplets all over the place. As they were tearing down statues, they were breathing hard and exhaling with more than normal force. So for the most part, the masks of the protesters were not very effective.

If you touch your face under the mask, scratch or move it around, you are lessening the effectiveness with each of those actions. And as has been noted, many had no masks at all.

Wearing a mask is not the magic bullet to stop the spread of COVID, it is only a small part of the equation.

We aren't locking down again are we? I didn't agree with it the first time and if it happens again then someone's head should roll. I just haven't been keeping up. My job forces me to wear a mask but I get it.
