This is true. Look at how Canada handled the virus compared to America. America made this political. Canada on the other hand had a country wide lockdown, wore mask,didn't make it political, and didn't reopen too soon. Now Canada is almost covid free.

Canada also has a population density about 90% lower than the US.

My guess is you think the riots and BLM protests had nothing to do with the "spike" we are seeing now in Cases, but not deaths.

There is definitely places with a lot of density in Canada most of the population lives in three provinces and closer to the US border
The north is unlivable and there's a lot of if there so it kind of artificially drives up the density

Notice how mainstream media obsesses about racial inequities, but NEVER highlights racial disparities in BEHAVIOR? I fully admit that many Southern Whites would by dead by now if not for the fact that they live in rural areas. However, as bad as obesity is for Whites, Blacks and Latinos are suffering much more from it, especially in major urban centers. And COViD loves those damp, overweight bodies.
Here in Atlanta, Blacks are still getting their groove on in clubs like Compound, where they have an indoor swimming pool!

They probably have something to do with it, though many were masked up, so the impact on the spike is less than what you are probably attributing to them.
