The verbiage is specific due to the outliers created by the four expansion teams.

Total # of Shutouts at the Hands of an SEC School
*In the AP Poll Era

1. Vanderbilt: 74
2. Mississippi St: 61
2. Kentucky: 61
4. Auburn: 51
5. Florida: 39
6. Ole Miss: 35
6. LSU: 35
8. Georgia: 32
9. Alabama: 28
9. Tennessee: 28
11. South Carolina: 19
12. Arkansas: 10
13. Texas A&M: 9
14. Missouri: 4

% of Total SEC Losses that Resulted in a Shutout

1. Auburn: 21.3%
2. Vanderbilt: 18.2%
3. Florida: 18.1%
4. Mississippi St: 17.9%
5. Alabama: 17.1%
6. Kentucky: 16.5%
7. LSU: 15.6%
8. Georgia: 15.3%
9. Texas A&M: 15.0%
10. Tennessee: 13.7%
11. Ole Miss: 12.7%
12. Missouri: 11.4%
13. South Carolina: 11.0%
14. Arkansas: 6.7%

Most times shutout by an SEC school in a single season

Vanderbilt: 6 (1960)
Auburn: 5 (1950)
Kentucky: 5 (1937)
Mississippi St: 5 (1959)

Worst Shutouts in SEC play

Georgia over Florida 75-0 in 1942 (A very misleading score due to WWII service)
Alabama over Vanderbilt 71-0 in 1945
Tennessee over Vanderbilt 65-0 in 1994
Florida over Kentucky 65-0 in 1996
Alabama over Texas A&M 59-0 in 2014
Alabama over Vanderbilt 59-0 in 2017

Vanderbilt ruins all of my "worst of" threads.

ETA

Average margin in shutout losses

Vanderbilt: -28.7
Arkansas: -27.4
Texas A&M: -26.89
Tennessee: -25.83
South Carolina: -25.63
Auburn: -25.29
Kentucky: -24.97
Ole Miss: -24.71
Mississippi St: -24.71
Georgia: -22.09
Florida: -21.59
Alabama: -19.11
LSU: -18.86

Funny you should start this thread because I actually started cringing earlier today thinking about the time we lost 17-0 to Arkansas. Seriously what a shittastic performance that was. I’ve honestly never seen worse game planning and effort than I did that night.

Skewed with expansion teams ... needs to be done from 1992 forward, when the real SEC began. The modern football era.

this could have been MUCH worse. Worst beating I've ever seen. Alabama's 12 minute final drive and taking a knee at the 3 on first down was demoralizing.

Which is why I also did the percentage list. An attempt to try to combat the lower total number of games played. Not the best attempt. But an attempt...

I was also thinking about doing a list during what I personally consider the modern era (1978).

Also, there's only been a total of 75 shutouts since 1992. 30 of which make up of Vanderbilt and Mississippi St. It's also not as much fun to see Georgia with 1 and Tennessee/Alabama with 2.

I thtink that's kind of the point. There were a ton of shutouts in the first 30-40 years of the conference that make up the majority, which skews the "percentage of total losses by shutout" stat in favor of the expansion teams. A better list would be something like total conference losses and you could add the expansion teams games from the same time period. Obviously they were playing different teams; however, it would make the stat look more realistic.

I'll be brutally honest here, as we near midnight on this Sunday evening.

If I did since '92, I would have had to add extra filters to filter out those non-conference games against SEC schools that South Carolina, Arkansas, A&M, and Missouri played prior to them joining the SEC. If I didn't do that, someone would have gotten upset with me.

Instead, I used 1 very specific filter for this criteria; "vs SEC" and did "ALL games" with "0 PF".

A nice lazy evening. Beer and college football stats.

If you include shutout losses as a member of the SEC to a current SEC team regardless of when they joined, you get the following:

1923: Texas A&M 28, LSU 0
1937: Texas A&M 14, Mississippi State 0
1944: Texas A&M 7, LSU 0
1954: Texas A&M 6, Georgia 0
1955: Texas A&M 28, LSU 0
1975: Texas A&M 7, Ole Miss 0
1993: Texas A&M 24, LSU 0

And that's just one school

LSU was a member of the SEC when it was established in 1922. A&M joined in 2012.

So basically, as a member of the SEC, LSU has shut out A&M 5 times and been shut out by A&M 4 times.

Corndog fail context.

It sure didn't take aTm long to make the Wall of Shame. I mean aTm is in the company of Vanderbilt and Kentucky on that wall.

You always show up in this guys threads. A lot of people show up to his threads because they really enjoy the content he provides. You on the other hand try and change the narrative of the OP, you also try to also throw stats out there that are barely relevant to the OP (trying to "one up him" maybe ). Having said that I want to say thanks. Along with the great content the OP provides I get to laugh at you and your weird agenda too.
