Pathetic, especially considering there's not one team in the nation that one could point to as a favorite to win it all this year.

It's not a very good conference.

Kentucky has Final Four potential, IMO. I don't think they'll get there, though.

Talent wise, so does LSU and A&M.

The 2016 NCAA tourney could turn out to be the best in decades. Whoever gets hottest in March will win it all.

Kentucky is getting hot at just the right time. Calipari is a magician. Lock for final four imo.

LSU has the front-end talent, but severely lacks depth.

Obviously, depth isn't necessarily a requirement to make it deep in the tournament. But when our post depth (foul trouble) has plagued us all season, it's an issue.

With Patterson getting less and less minutes, it seems like we really only have 6 guys who play a good amount of minutes.

A&M has more good players than LSU. I really have a hard time understanding how they've struggled so much recently. Their coach must be as bad as their fan base tells us.

But you guy's do have the talent to string some games together in the tournament.

It's wide arse open this year.

I think the Sec will be far better as a hoops conference in upcoming years. Kentucky has always been the measuring stick in the conference but I see at least 5 or 6 programs right now who will make huge strides soon. Be patient.

For sure, but I severely doubt we can string together 3-4 wins. If Victor gets in foul trouble and has to sit for 12+ minutes at a time against a very good team, it's going to be really hard for LSU to win.

RPI and SOS wise absolutely. I was more pointing out that there's no dominant basketball team this year.

There's not any team out there one could point to and say "they're the team to beat."

Gonna make for a fantastic March.

I mean look at what both bama and tamu did ooc, then they struggled in the sec, bama at the beginning of the sec and tamu now. Hell Tamu beat one of the better big 12 teams in the midst of this awful ball they were playing. If LSU would have held their weight in the ooc or wouldn't have choked against OU your looking at a lot of ranked teams losing to SEC teams.

I agree. The football arms race orgy is winding down and attention to the other Big 3 sports is increasing.

Half the conference is dedicated to a win-at-all-costs effort in football and about that many care deeply about baseball. Kentucky has traditionally been the only basketball school in the conference.

That's changing and it's great. I hope that 5 years from now we'll have seen at least two different schools as tourney champs.

But as it has been mentioned the SEC will be much improved with the addition of decent coaches over the past offseason.

I think our bad teams, Mizzou and auburn are god awful and probably the worst out of the p5 but our top 7 is full of decent-solid teams. But yes we don't have that one final 4 lock team yet, UK has been playing the part lately though.

I think the addition of ATM helps in baseball , basketball and football. They are more rounded in complete sports than Mizzou. But I do think even Mizzou because they are now in the Sec will up their game in several sports.

I do have a question for you though, when John Cohen was head coach of KY baseball, you guys won an Sec title and were feared with that offensive production. Has KY attendance stayed improved for baseball or has it dropped off?

Heard the same thing two years ago…

3 SEC teams got in
Tennessee was an 11 seed, got to the Sweet 16 and lost to #2 Michigan by 2 points
Florida made the Final Four
Kentucky made the Championship game
