Fact: nobody at Missouri asked the tutor to take tests and do coursework for the athletes. She went rogue and took it upon herself to do the work and then took it upon herself to rat them out. You see the results.

Hypothetical: I’m a Bama fan and I’m taking classes at Auburn, or any other SEC school and I’m doing well enough to be hired by the athletic department as a tutor. And I’m really out to bring Auburn down. What’s to stop me from pulling a Yolanda and doing the same thing? And what if that was my intention from the get go? How does any school protect themselves from this sort of thing? Some of you will say it’s up to the athletes to say no but in the real world, there’s always going to be an athlete that either needs the grade or is just lazy enough to accept.

That is the chilling reality of this event.

I don't think even a Bama fan would contemplate career suicide over collegiate athletics. She is hosed. She will never work in higher education again.

Fact: You'd have to be a crazy mfer to complete college coursework for 12 or so athletes for no reason/reward.

Completely true

In your hypothetical what is to stop you is a competent athletic department that is vigilant in not only supervising you but knowing not to hire you in the first place. Also, your career, as hers is now, would be OVER. She will never be hired by another school much less athletic department.

This fails actual logic.

Why on earth would someone want to commit career suicide over a rivalry?

Bama fans are all just like Harvey Updyke living in their own delusions.

There is a real world out there, ya know?

Mizzou learned a very important lesson to never go full SJW. All it gets you is poop swatstikas, loss of enrollment, hunger strikes, and probation.

But that’s the point. No, normal thinking people know this is crazy and career suicide. But there’s always a Harvey or a Yolanda out there.

How did she benefit from this? So why did she roll over on them?

The reason she did it is because she was too lazy to be a good tutor. It’s a hell of a lot easier to just do the work to get an athlete to pass than do do the hard work and teach them. Bottom line is, she was lazy.

She didn't even have to cheat. Just saying there was cheating and dropping names would probably have the same results.

Exactly. Couple that with an incompetent athletic department and this is what you get

John "Stump" Thrower found this out the hard way. When he exposed the cheating at Bama, the REC ruined his arse and it ultimately cost him his life. He died broke and defeated.
