Leagues had to cancel once the first one did. Otherwise they are open to lawsuits by any jack leg lawyer who said you should have canceled like the others. Like 3rdandten said...panic is not proof of a need to panic.

You know why Germany started testing the hell out of everybody early on? They were smart enough to see what this was going to become and tested to immediately isolate positives to stop the spread. They have been very successful and have a very low mortality rate...BECAUSE THEY TESTED AND ISOLATED!i.e. they QUARANTINED!

Italy on the other hand, did nothing, waited until the genie was out of the bottle and the entire northern half of their country was infected. Their mortality rate using Johns Hopkins figures of confirmed cases versus deaths gives them a death rate of 6.6%

Yep, you're right, they probably have a shite ton of mild cases walking around that don't even know it and they've been testing the sickest ones and it inflates their death rate. You are absolutely right, they have a denominator problem. But they have that denominator problem because they sat on their arse and did nothing while it spread until it was out of control instead of testing and isolating the positives. And their quarantines didn't work. Because there's always some people that don't respect quarantines. They think it doesn't apply to them and they spread the disease. It's easy to enforce a quarantine on a couple hundred people. It's almost impossible to quarantine millions, which is what Italy tried to do.

Social distancing works if adhered to. It's working now when done right. It's why officials are trying to shut things down and keep us all apart. It stops the transmission and in a few weeks, the thing burns itself out.
