The real scare behind COVID-19

Here's the deal: most of y'all have read enough to know the gist of the disease and who it affects and doesn't. If you're young and healthy, you're safe. The older you are, the more underlying conditions you have, the better your chance of dying.
What's scaring the hell out of the people at CDC, etc. is the way this thing is spreading exponentially. While it's not particularly lethal from a statistical standpoint, cases are doubling in number almost daily. If that doesn't slow, even at a 2-3% death rate, the US healthcare system will be overwhelmed in late April or early May. People will die simply because there's not enough intensive care beds and medical personnel to treat them. It's already happened in China and it's happening before your eyes in Italy. Their healthcare system is failing because it's drowning.
The idea is to limit social contact to slow the spread to a smaller, slower, rolling wave of cases that can be absorbed by the system and the system (and more patients) survives instead of a tsunami of cases all at once that crush the system. Stay safe and take this seriously. Don't go nuts and go off and live in a cave, but at the same time, use common sense. If you are sick, quarantine yourself until you can get tested. Don't be the dumbass that says he's just got a cold and go spend all day in your local shopping mall or grocery store spreading disease to everyone. Call a doctor BEFORE you go and follow their instructions on how and where to get tested. We're all in this together, folks.

Wonder how many had it before we started testing specifically for it?

That's not entirely true either, because I've seen two healthy guys in their 30s interviewed on TV, and they came down with it and they say they're getting sicker and sicker, one of which was 32. The other was in his late 30s.

China had 3169 deaths out of 1.3 billion people. People in Wuhan where it started are going back to work.

We are testing specifically for it now so I’d imagine the numbers will go up

They also had to build a damn hospital in 10 days to absorb the cases.
Their case load is falling, because unlike here, the government shut the place down and quarantined the entire area until it could burn itself out.
Don't be ignorant, this is a serious pandemic.

Wow, had to build a make shift hospital. How did they ever manage!
Yeah, the quarantine worked so well the virus is around the world. Viruses don't give a shite about borders or quarantines.
3k deaths in 1.3 billion people. That's the fact of the matter.
And the death rate in China has declined over the months. Started out 14% and went as high as 16%, but then dropped down to less than 1% by Feb.

Remember when millions of people were in the streets protesting against the Chinese government?
They are now hiding inside.
Crazy how that played out...

Let's pretend that China locking down the affected areas police-state style like nothing done so far in the west had nothing at all to do with limiting it's spread throughout China.
Let's also not mention that they had hospitals overrun to the point to setting up intensive care units in hotels and gymnasiums.
It's no big deal, just a few thousand old folks there have actually died.
No reason to cancel a basketball game and keep a bunch of fans from Bay Minette, Alabama from traveling around the country and increasing the chance of bringing back those gas pumps and Walmart shopping center checkout counters.

China is full of shite and they basically left the infected area to die to get rid of their problem.
You are fricking holding up the most evil, commie country out there as an example to support your shitty conspiracy that no one believes anymore.
Go to fricking commie-ville if you like it so much.

First of all, 1.3 billion people in China haven't been infected. They implemented strict quarantines in the affected areas. Secondly, ya'll honestly think China is being truthful about their numbers? They won't even let American Scientist in.
