I want numbers. Got any?

VaTech would have destroyed any of Baylor's nonconference games

Yes, this is the reason. If you step back and think about it, the implications of this decision are bad. The committee has basically signaled that they will reward teams that (a) run up the score and (b) do it on the last weekend.

So....we've taken anything objective out of the formula and we're going with the ole "eyeball test." How is that progress?

Really, I don't think it's possible to be jacked up for running up the score in a championship game. They wanted to be in, and they made absolutely sure to beat Wisconsin so badly that there could be little debate.

Committee got this one absolutely right from head to toe.

Alabama should be favored to win this with Oregon being #2 and FSU #3. OSU should be #4 after that performance.

The extra game against a top team helps. Just ask Michigan in 2006.

Play a conference championship game and you won't get left out in the future

So you want Baylor to play Kansas State again?

Baylor also played one less game and had 3 bye weeks. The Big 12 screwed themselves.

Let's be honest here -- Wisconsin was overrated and overmatched. They would be a 3 or 4 loss team in the SEC or even the Big XII. I say this as someone who is a secondary Wisconsin fan.

So I'm not terribly impressed by them running up the score on an overmatched team. I'm more impressed by accumulation of quality wins.

And on that score....Ohio State does not beat out Baylor.

Should that matter? Another way of looking at this is that tOSU needed an extra game to get as many quality wins as Baylor.

Not at all. Beating the #13 team in the country 38-0 at halftime isn't running up the score on them. It's just beating the shite out of them...pure and simple.

VaTech barely squeaked by UVA on the last week of the season to become bowl eligible. They were very close to going 5-7.

My neighbor is a VaTech fan - says this is the worst VaTech team in a two decades. He is right.

The game ended 59-0 and Ohio State scored twice in the 4th quarter when the game was in hand. They did this to run up the score.

Tcu got screwed.....they lost to baylor on some very bad calls by the refs which brought the game to overtime ! osu and baylors losses were way worse and the big ten confs sucks compared to the big 12....

I think Baylor got fricked in this. They beat a a top 10 team and had a #17 ranked schedule v OSU not beating a top 15 team and the #38 ranked schedule.

Really doesn't matter though. We've made CUM quit before and we can do it again.

SOS

That's just a weird SOS ranking. How did Bama drop 4 spots after playing Missouri while Mississippi went up 2 spots after sitting idle.

Are you impressed that they did it with their third string QB? I think you're being a little biased, but that was an impressive victory.

Head to head comparison favors Baylor, and its a no-brainer.

Look at the OOC schedules.

Baylor: SMU, Northwestern State (FCS), and Buffalo. 1-11, 5-6, and an FCS team.
OSU: va tech, Navy, Kent State, and Cincinnati. Three of those teams are conference eligible. Cincinnati was their conference co-champion.

Why does that matter when Baylor has better quality wins?

Bottom line, the quality of teams that Baylor played was shite. Partially their fault in who they scheduled OOC and partially their fault for being in a shite conference.

Who gives a shite about the last 2 TDs? Anyone can see that OSU absolutely beat the snot out of them. The committee saw the same 2nd quarter scores we all did and said WTF?

Actually I'm looking at the results that matter from an objective standpoint. Baylor beat two teams that are more highly ranked than the two teams Ohio State beat. And Ohio State needed an extra game to get a second quality win.

I'm not sure how the third string QB is relevant to this discussion at all.
