What is great about it is that there isn’t a committee that allows them a Mulligan. They earn it on the field.

Hmmmmmm......where have I seen that before?

Under the exact same rules the Pats play under, Auburn would not have won the division, Alabama would have. Auburn is the team that got the Mulligan. Lost two games and backed into the SECCG.

You inbreds can't even make a coherent argument.

Because of the Pats always winning, they have made the NFL un-watchable and not fun anymore.

Welcome to the SEC for the rest of us. Ha!

But the wildcard is also earned on the field. That fact is pretty coherent.

And this is good for the NFL. All anybody talks about is how much they hate the Patriots. Hating the Patriots is trendy, people watch the Patriots just so they can get on social media and complain about hating the Patriots because you're all a bunch of mindless trend followers that can't think for yourselves and pine for acceptance like a puppy. Its annoying af.

There is no way on Gods green earth that the 2007 9-7 New York Giants were the best team in the NFL. You can halfass your way through the season, squeak into the playoffs, and win a SuperBowl over a 18-0 team. That is why college football is better.

So, some other team who earned it on the field being a wildcard-type team should get in over Bama?

We all think Belichick could be successful in the College game. We know that Saban wasn't in the NFL. That is the big difference.

How did you ascertain what others think/know?

4 questions with the author of the Nick Saban-Bill Belichick SI profile
quote:

On one hand, there's New England's Bill Belichick, who is in search of his sixth Super Bowl ring as head coach.

On the other, there's Alabama's Nick Saban, who just got finished winning his sixth college football national championship.

While many know their careers intersected, there have been few stories that explain just how integral their relationship over the years has played a part in the success of both men.

This week, Jenny Vrentas wrote an in-depth profile on the origin and specifics of their working relationship for Sports Illustrated's MMQB.

Vrentas joined me on "The Opening Kickoff" on WNSP-FM 105.5 on Friday to discuss the story, and the process - yes, I used that word - in gathering the facts of the piece.

Here are four questions asked of the journalist:

3. What was the biggest surprise you took from the piece?

Vrentas: I was surprised that Belichick said he wouldn't want to see Nick Saban again. I said, "Do you think your paths will ever cross. There is speculation every year that Saban will try again in the NFL." He goes, "I can't sit here and tell you I want him to." It's not that he doesn't want him to succeed, it's he doesn't want to compete against him.

It was a compliment to his friend, but it was a reflection of the respect he has. That stuck out to me. Saban's rooted in Alabama. I don't think he's going anywhere. But if you're an NFL team and you see the best coach in the NFL saying this is a guy I wouldn't want to face, I think that's pretty significant.

Its funny that people dismiss the fact that after Saban went 9-7 and 6-10, Cam Cameron took over that same Dolphins team and went 1-15. That's the kind of team/front office Saban was working with. The Dolphins haven't been relevant since Don Shula and obviously don't want to be.

Bottom line is there is a selection criteria that is earned on the field in the NFL. Could you image the fans reaction if a 12 person committee selected the NFL participants. NE would be in every year with that system, but at least now they have to earn it on the field.

If it were Auburn, you wouldn't have a problem with it. But Auburn loses 4 games a year, so it will never be an issue.

We wouldn't have had to watch all of those gawd awful wild card games with the Texans in them the last few years. That's for sure.

Dude, don’t put that kind of evil on Irons Puppet. He is a man of ironclad principles. If Auburn had backed their way into the playoff this past season as a two-loss team despite there being other teams out there with fewer losses that did not get in, he would have picketed outside the athletic facilities and would not have watched the playoff in protest. Isn’t that right, Irons?

I never thought AU deserved to be in it if the lost the SECG. I will feel the same way next year. If we were comparing Apples to Apples in CF , it would ok. But to say a Conference champ is inferior to a team that didn’t win their division is ridiculous .

In Alabama's case, it was proven true. Twice.

Whats amazing to me is how consistently the patriots have won in the socialist nfl society with the worst teams getting the top choice in the draft. Then you ad in the salary cap which makes it difficult to keep the same players for a career.

We beat a conference champ at a neutral site by 18 pts.

Bammer tards like you are just too jdumb to understand a coherent argument. The Patriots won their division under NFL rules. Bammer didn't under SEC rules. They just backed their way into the championship
