Ole Miss has their penalties reduced upon appeal and didn’t have public sentiment on their side

I really don’t see why that matters, but of course this is the NCAA so...

I’m at a loss too. It’s all semantics.

To be clear, I’m not saying MSU should receive punishment equal to what Missouri was given. I do think that Mizzou’s punishment was cruel, unjust, and excessively severe.

Maybe it’s time for schools to bring back a curriculum in which top flight student athletes can meet academic requirements via attendance and not through exams/quizzes/essays, etc.

Let the kids who want a real education pursue one. Let the kids using college as a stepping stone to a professional athletic career do their thing.

IDK. Seems the NCAA feels the need to make examples of lower-tiered P5 schools for no other reason than to maintain the facade of amateurism in college athletics.

Sucks and I totally empathize with the schools on the receiving end of the NCAA’s broomstick.

You're right. I should've been more specific. They upheld the postseason ban and vacated wins.

Let me tell you a little story......

Just kidding, but in all seriousness, going to the SEC Championship and a bowl game will not dictate if this is a special season or not, that comes from the experience. If you win all your games or even most of them, it will be a great season.

In 1990, right before Steve Spurrier's 1st season at Florida, UF was put on probation and told we couldn't win the SEC or go to a bowl game. This was because of 2 infractions which occurred under the previous staff. They ended up going 9-2 and won the SEC. Tennessee was awarded the SEC championship because Florida was ineligible, but Spurrier ask for and got permission from the SEC to say UF was #1 in the SEC, even though we couldn't claim the championship. He has always given them credit for their accomplishments and probably talks about that team as much as any.

It was a great season and all Gator fans look back on it that way.

That said, I have no idea what those idiots at the NCAA will do, but don't let it tarnish your season one bit.

USC, Dook, Ohio State, and other non SEC schools have gotten away with all kinds of crap.

USC also got a 2 year bowl ban.

2 year bowl ban was crap for the infractions. Who besides USC was cheating at women soccer and women volleyball? Trojans are the poster child for "loss of institutional control" as the cheating had permeated every program they had. When you think about it, pretty impressive, but still cheating.

You do the crime - you do the time.

Sorry Missouri.

Rules are rules.

The Mizzou Bowl Ban HAS to be lifted right?Right? There is no way that State can be punished for the exact same thing with lighter penalties, RIGHT? FML

This will light a fire for the players and coaches to play and coach harder than before!

Situations aren't identical, but they're pretty similar. Also, no current Mizzou players were on campus when the rogue tutor was there, whereas Miss St has active players on the roster that were involved in their cheating

Sounds like they couldn't suspend the Missouri players that committed the infraction (like they did State). So instead they had to hit the school. And add to it the tutor was an employee.

This isn't hard to understand.

This quote doesn’t make any sense...how is an athletics department tutor not an employee? If I work at the university gym part time I’m an employee...if I work as a tutor part time I’m also an employee. Someone pays them...whoever pays them is their employer.
