quote:Oh, I know. I remember his first year.
It's amusing to read under 30 folks try and act like they know a damn thing about Bo though.
I have the same issue when I am talking about how awesome Tommie Frazer was. . .
quote:Yup.
Bo and Hershel are the best two backs to come through the SEC in my lifetime and it's not really even close.
Only person I would add. . .is the "what could have been" that was Cecil Collins.
He actually reminded me of a stronger Bo Jackson.
Sadly, he was criminally disturbed. . .and way fricking creepy.

I saw enough of him for a lifetime in his game against us.

Check RB 09 stats - we should be comparing Bo with Toby Gerhert; kind of like Joe Dudeck -
Joe is a friend of mine...good friend from New Hampshire. Played D-III at Plymouth State. Remember SI had him on the cover has their pick for the Heismann over Bo and Chuck Long. Got cut by Denver, but played 3 games during the strike year and scored TD's on Monday night football. Then went back to the Bud distributorship.

Cecil was ridiculous, I still remember that AU-LSU game when he and Craig went back and forth scoring touchdowns until the very end. I'm still not sure how the hell we won that game, Cecil was completely unstoppable.
I'd definitely put Cecil in the next grouping of backs along with McFadden as far as the most talented backs behind Hershel and Bo. It's a shame he was a total criminal.

Bo was the best hands down.He still owns the 40 time record at the combine at 6'1 230lbs .His film looks like a 5star playing against private school kids .Watch the film nobody else made pro players look like that.
On a side note his nephew is my age and also went to Mcadory.Best athlete besides Bo that Ive seen play.Had NFL written all over him.Started both ways on a talented 5A team as an 8th grader.Quit school before our 9th grade year to sell crack.
Theres no way anyone with eyes could watch his film or see him in person and think theres better.
BO

I was too young to remember what Bo was like running the football and playing baseball at Auburn. I was one of the youngsters who grew up watching him on those BO knows commercials. Its a shame he had his football career cut short by some abnormal injury.
in my lifetime, I would say nobody did it better than Rudi Johnson did it in 2000. The guy was an absolute workhorse.
Cadillac was pretty elusive and overcame injuires in his college career and still managed to carry the ball more than any other Auburn back. His pro career has been a rough going with plenty of injuries but he still plays, so I think there is something to be said for that.

He ran a 4.12 and later that same week backed it up with a 4.18
Google fastest player ever in the NFL...
Bob Hayes is number one, no dispute.
Second most will say was Bo.
Third widely argued between Deion Sanders and Darrell Green.
To say Cadillac was a speed back and Bo was a power back (which he was) does an injustice to "The legend of Bo" being he was probably the 1st or 2nd fastest player to ever play in the SEC.

Wow, just wow!!!! GTFO with that.
As for this thread, Bo was the best athlete to ever play in the SEC as well as running back. Comparing stats from the 80's to the stats of today or recent years is ridiculous to say the least. Completely different era and style of play. Bo was (as already said) a man amongst boys when he played. Kinda like when Jim Brown played way back when. Anyone that can't see that has anti orange and blue glasses on.

I watched Bo take himself out of the UF/Auburn game in 84. He wasn't all that tough. I have nothing against Auburn and hate UGA with all my heart. The guy is nowhere close to Walker. I've never understood why he's mentioned in the same breath.

Walker, Jackson, Archie Manning...maybe a few others.
These are legends of the SEC. Even though they all played against LSU, I feel like they're in the family. I would defend them to anyone and can appreciate every good play, even if done against LSU.
When Bo Jackson said "if I lost everything I know I could come back to Auburn, AL and knock on any door and be invited to dinner" I thought to myself - he could do that anywhere in the South. He may not realize that he's on this elite level of appreciation where the entire South embraces him as our own.

That does it..You are a delusional dumb frick..Once i saw your awesome work in the Greg McElroy was better than Peyton Manning, i thought you was just trolling everybody.
But now i see you are serious. You really think Greg frickING McELROY was better than Peyton Manning. Which is very very bad..Now you honestly believe that Trent Richardson was a better runningback than Bo Jackson. Look you can twist stats all you want to fit your arguement. Ive seen it done time and time again. But seriously dude. Calm down your homerism just a tad...please.

OP, Bo clocked 4.2 at the combine... I think thats pretty fast.
I'm pretty sure that was hand timed. I'm not saying hes slow though.
Actually, he was hand-timed at the NFL combine at 4.12.

Team scouts and coaches have various approaches for getting the 40 time they use from those six sources. Some use averages. Some throw out slowest and fastest and then average the rest. Some ignore the whole thing and use a time taken by their own scout.
So it is that Jackson's time of 4.12 at the Superdome is the best ever, verified by numerous reports that week in 1986, including a front-page story from USA TODAY.

Stephen Davis could easily have been another Auburn Heisman Trophy winner.
Except for the fact that The Retarded Bowden decided to take a huge dump on his senior year.

quote:He could've been one of the best to put on an Auburn uniform, if he could've fixed his fumbling problems. Dude was a great athlete, as he played WR and RB in different seasons. If we would've had more depth at running back in 2010, he would've stayed at WR and he would've meshed with Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, Phillip Lutz, Kodi Burns, and Emory Blake.
