The weirdest play in Egg Bowl history. Even you non-Mississippians will enjoy it.

Bonus: "Ole Miss is worse than Tulane, luckier than Georgia and cheaper than Southern Miss."

Crazy that people cared about going to bowl games so much then.

The crowd looked like a giant klan rally

There weren't 800 bowl games then

That was when the government was testing out their first weather machine.

Now, Oprah is out there handing out bowl games to everyone and they don't mean anything anymore.

That kick from 51 looked like it was about to exit Earth's atmosphere.

I think the Ole Miss players actually had to make their own uniforms.

Artie Cosby had a helluva leg. His family moved in from Aggie-land before his senior season in high school. He was a barefoot kicker like Tony Franklin at A&M. MSHSAA made him wear a shoe, and he ended up kicking like that the rest of his career. I talked with him after that game, and he said that he nailed it but that wind gust had to be well over 60.

CSB Time: In my Freshman year I went to Valdosta HS, where John Bond eventually starred before going to MSU (his predecessor at VHS was my classmate Benjamin Franklin "Buck" Belue).
My family moved to Bay Minette, AL, where I graduated from Baldwin County HS. The starting QB there my senior year was future Ole Miss QB Kelly Powell (seen in one of the postgame interviews).
Another coincidence - when my wife attended MSU in the early '90s, my best friend while we were living there was John Bond's cousin.
