Let me know when Texas A&M has a QB on par with any of those 3 teams. I won't be holding my breath.

Regardless, let me know when Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady is behind center for Texas A&M.

You guys really don't think A&M is going to snag a good QB to run our system out of the state of Texas?

Besides, your argument is a red herring and you are basically conceding the point for me.

You're admitting that talent wins and that spread em out teams can win championships at the highest level.

8 of 32 NFL starters are Texans. Odds arent bad that the next Manning, Brees, or Rodgers plays at A&M.

Maybe it's Tannehill. Could have been Brees who would have given anything to be an Aggie like both his parents

Who Aggie saw as a WR for the majority of his career.

History states otherwise.

You can't sign what you don't offer. Its OK Nutt didn't think Wilson was worthy of an offer...

Regardless whether you think A&M will be that team, the fact of the matter is that the concept that you have to have a badass defense and ground and pound to win championships is false.

That's the point.

The difference between other teams running it and Tennessee running it is that other teams don't have a first round QB and two first round WR.

How many have played at A&M? I could say something similar about the number of SEC players in the pros but that doesn't mean they end up by majority coming out of Kentucky. You're talking about someone who hasn't even been recruited to your campus yet.

Second, I don't see where the NFL applies here because we're talking about the SEC and as shown by several coaches who have bounced between the SEC and the NFL it doesn't necessarily translate. What's good for one level isn't necessarily good for another. Apples and Oranges.

Several people have provided evidence of teams in the SEC that have ran the no huddle in the last 20 or so years. And they all say that without the defense you tend to max around 7-8 wins largely due to a lack of defense.

One of you guys mentioned Arkansas. Arkansas has done well but even they'll concede that defense has been a crutch in them not winning a SEC Championship since they joined the conference. It's no coincidence that by majority the teams that have dominated have had good defenses.

You are not going to outscore the SEC to win the SEC.

This is a proven fact.

The same thing was said in the NFL years ago and it was a fact then. It is no longer a fact now.

Also, I think you're going to see A&M field some pretty decent defenses to go with our offense in the next few seasons. Sumlin has repeatedly stated that we have needs on the DL and he is addressing those with recruiting right now.

Ignoring 2010, of course.

I guess there is always an exception. AU wasn't a great D in 2010, but it was enough. They had good special teams and they ran the football with Cam/dyer.

Because clearly Petrino, Saban, Spurrier all suck at their job. I'm sure winning at South Carolina has been real easy for Spurrier. Or Petrino at Arkansas and Louisville.

Apples and oranges. The NFL changed the rules in favor of offense: protect the QBs and allow the WRs to run free. Still, even with the NFL rules as they are, the Super Bowl champ almost always has a great defense, even Green Bay and New England when they won.

Despite all actual facts to the contrary...

ETA: 2010 Auburn had only about an average SEC defense, but it turned out to be plenty enough to hold Oregon to 19. How odd.
