The Fulmer Cup was conceived in 2006 by Every Day Should Be Saturday sports blogger Orson Swindle, a fan of football rival Florida, and named for then-University of Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer. While Fulmer was coach, the Tennessee team had over 20 players arrested for criminal activity in a 16 month period from 2004 through 2005. This mirrored a similar outbreak of criminal activity at the University of Tennessee in 1995 when 9 players were arrested. Since this seemed to be a recurrent theme at Tennessee under Fulmer, the cup was named in his honor

Haters gonna hate....

While many SEC teams have won it since, it was the fat man who busted the BCS MNC cherry.

Tis the fates. We all know if we would have beat Tenner in that game they still would have won the East. The SEC championship game rematch would have been huge! At that point Tennessee was who we hated the most (and still do), losing that game was a big blow to Arkansas. Those games were an awesome atmosphere.

If we would have beat UT twice, we all know we'd have lost the bowl game for the crystal ball, that's assuming national bias wouldn't have kept us out.

Fulmer was one of the most fark-able coaches ever in the SEC. Those Tenn classics on the fark board are still funny.

:banghead: son of a bitch. I've spent the last 25 minutes writing a thread titled "SEC WHAT IF: Stoerner doesn't fumble"

Did a nice analysis of the game, the situation, the stakes, linked a bunch of videos of the play, the last drive, and of Stoerner explaining it in his words a year ago.

f'n wikipedia made explorer crash and it's gone. SOB!!! Goddamnit!

The jewel of the OP was the results. If Stoerner doesn't fumble and Arkansas converts the first down we likely run the clock out for the win. Tenner doesn't win the crystal ball, the loss deflates the entire program and Fulmer is fired by 2002. UT hires Saban away from LSU, LSU never wins in 2003. LSU hires Houston Nutt away from Arkansas like they almost did in 1999 and 2005. Arkansas hires Tommy Tuberville and wins multiple NC's with McFadden, Jones, and Hillis in the backfield led by Bobby Petrino's offense. Auburn then hires a nobody and Alabama is forced to keep Mike Price and both of the schools go on NCAA penalties for years.

In 1998, after beating UT Arkansas would have gone up to #6 in the polls, beaten MSU the next week, still killed LSU in LR like they did in '98 41-14. UCLA would have been #1, and beaten by Miami in the last week of the season. FSU goes to #1, Kstate #2, Ohio St. #3-5, Arky #4-5. In the SEC champ game, if Arky would have won again we would have jumped tOSU and gotten in the title game, where who knows we might have beaten FSU, but it's a bowl game so we probably would have been killed.

I'll never forget that .... Al Wilson is who should have the road named after him up there, not Tee Martin.

What you have to remember is that the fulmer cup was created by gator fans and they make sure every year the gators do not earn all the points they deserve or they would win it most years. Go urban

Clint Stoener was not the best of qbs....but the last minute fumble was beyond believable...did someone have $$ riding on the game in Vegas? It was keystone cops bad. 1998 UT was one of the weakest MNC teams ever....and lucky...UF was mediocre and had no FG kicker.

Wrong thread. I think.
