Things were different back then.
There were only newspapers and radios.
No instantaneous "anything".
If you wanted a "quick response" you would have to write a letter and wait for about three days.
Or, just call someone on a landline phone with about 90 ft of cord (if you valued your privacy).
No cordless phones back then.
Times sure have changed.
Cordless phones existed, as did Cell Phones. You could fax back and forth for instant responses or use AOL or CompuServe. Lots of message boards back then too..

Wtf? Bama went 11-1, and that put them in the blockbuster bowl?
Yeah, it was pretty stupid. I remember that game. I was 12 and even my 12 year old clueless self looked at my dad when they showed the bowl matchups on the sports portion of channel 6 news and was like...... what is that crap? He just shrugged and said words to me that rang true for many years before it finally changed "Son, the whole country hates alabama for what Coach Bryant did to them. Get used to it."

A 11-1 Bama team got the blockbuster bowl? Was it a big deal then or something?

From what my parents tell me, it was a place to get movies from.
I always laugh when they talk about these things.
I honestly don't know.
Shame you kids these days never got to experience it. Lot of fond memories renting NCAA Gamebreaker 99 and MLB 2000 for my Sony Playstation.
