Those 6 could fire Bowlsby tomorrow

And, they should fire him...The moron is torpedoing there chances of ESPN helping them find a landing spot..Some of them might have landed in a decent conference, but now there options are probably even fewer than before because the idiot pissed off ESPN. They might have got somewhat decent contracts from ESPN to play along, but now, probably have to go crawling to FOX and take what they can get..

He should be fired tonight, actually, like as soon as this news broke.

You don't think Bowlsby came up with this on his own? Surely the 8 had to approve it.

I'm pretty sure some school tipped him off because they weren't happy with their landing spot ESPN had in store for them, and maybe they expected Bowlsby to actually have a clue and help them out. But, now their situation went from bad to worse with this response from him.

He literally accomplished nothing. Texas and OU will still leave, and now the remaining schools he is supposed to represent have less options..

Tortious interference is HARD to prove.

Not a lawyer but was following a tortious interference (and defamation) case and it seems like that is the norm. Funny enough it was also in Texas and it ended up getting TCPA'd and racked up the dude's legal fees.

People are forgetting how long it took for A&M to join the conference.

This is blowing up the last remnants of the league.

The other Big 12 schools combined have a lot of legal firepower.

ESPN gonna get the heck sued out of them this time. This is gonna be ugly, extremely expensive, and take a long time.

I know A&M announced their intent during 2011 but it would not surprise me if it began back in 2010 when they first started publicly expressing their opinion on the Big 12. I'm thinking that they and the SEC probably had more time to work on the legal aspect of it behind the scenes than OU and Texas will have if 2022 is actually the intended date.

The problem really is ESPN, OU and Texas pulled the trigger too soon. And that move was probably predicated on ESPN’s plan to find a way around those fees by dissolving the conference, but the remains Big 12 teams would rather get that money they will never get close to again. The SEC is ok because it takes a very safe posture on all situations like this.

I personally didn’t expect a move until 2023 because by then the exit costs would be much cheaper to pay. This 2022 acceleration is turning into a gamble for all parties.
