I was watching the game on a 65" tv in my living room, and I missed the facemask until the slow-mo replay. Blatant?
The coverage on this wasn't very good. Would have been nice to see a replay, to see what the ref who threw the flag saw.
I'll give you 3 guesses as to what happens when a side judge runs into players/coaches while a play is going on.
Calls get made and missed on every play. When people whine and bitch about a game like this, which frankly was officiated better than about 95% of the 40 or so SEC games I watched this year, it makes you look like a bitch, or someone with an agenda. Just stop. Kiss the ring of Godfather Saban, and hope it's your team next year.

Honestly, Bama did a lot of really stupid things last night completely out of character.

Get ready for multiple personal attacks and of course the incredible claim that missed calls don't matter. I also saw 2 facemasks that were not called. Not saying it changed the outcome, but I believe it's time to upgrade the officiating

I agree with this. When you start naming plays that were blown or missed you start finding plays in your favor that were blown or missed. I guess it could happen, but I doubt any referees purposely make bad calls. It's just silly to start making accusations like this.

So you were able to see him grab the facemask despite the fact that the ball carrier was facing AWAY from the camera on the live broadcast? Let's also forget the fact that the player was also facing AWAY from the ref who would have been able to throw the flag. By the time the player's head had turned, the hand was no longer on the facemask. So unless the referee had x-ray vision, there was no way he could have known until the replay was shown that a penalty had occurred.

It wouldn't have hurt Fromm, but it could have been called it the referees had chosen to call it. Probably best it wasn't, but as a Georgia fan, I would have been happy if it had been called.
