Not close to the incompetence we see in the SEC on a weekly basis.
That is debatable. Ask N.O. fans how incompetent NFL officiating is. It's so bad it cost them a chance at a Super Bowl. Ask Detroit fans about it. An Official can't see a play clock hitting zero. There is no easier call in all of sports.

when I say dont really work full time jobs, I mean they are at a point in their career where they have a job, but they dont really do much work as in 9-5/5 days.
Yeah, sports gambling isn’t one of those stuffy 9 to 5’s.

Need a lot of changes here.
First off the SEC makes way way too much money to not have well paid full time officials at this point. $800-$3k a game is a joke.
Hire guys full time salaried, pay them a decent base salary (say $50k-$75k based on tenure) plus obviously per diems, paid for travel/room/board, and offer big bonuses as incentive based on performance.
Every game they officiate they get graded on their performance by an INDEPENDENT committee. Based on the performance calculation on how they did their job, they get bonuses and "points" for each game. the points system should work something similar to say PFF's grading system. You get positive points for good/correct calls, you get negative points for bad/incorrect/missed calls, etc..something of the sort.
Your bonus is based on the game performance and can range from say something like $0 (you sucked) to say $3,000 per game. Heavily incentivize good refs in that aspect and reward them. At the end of the year, you can see the performance of all the refs and make any necessary "changes" if need be. Refs with very low points/grades by the end of the season should be terminated (set a threshold). Refs with very high points/grades should be sent to postseason games to earn more money and get salary bumps for the following season.

Never understood (at least for Football) why there are not full time refs. SEC should employ full time refs as employees of the SEC. That way they can be at least held accountable if they make a bad call and could be suspended and/or terminated. I think if there was a full time salary on the line there would be less likely questionable calls. More skin in the game type thing.
