it was only 8 states of eligible schools. Alabama's 1941 National Championship may have more credibility. It was the team that finished 3rd in the SEC after losing to Miss. State and Vandy, but prestigious Houlgate Poll somehow decided that Alabama was the national champions (along with Minnesota and Texas... & the Gophers and Longhorns don't recognize it)
