re: The AP poll means nothing. The CFP had Miami at 6. They aren’t dropping out.

If the committee puts in SMU with a loss or even Miami, they avoid the SEC bias and don’t have to deal with the three-way SEC drama.
Agree - and could definitely see them doing that. Either way they have an "argument" --- "Can't penalize SMU for an extra game" or "Miami only has 2 losses". They aren't good arguments (especially the Miami one), but I can very much see them making them just to avoid the entire SEC thing (and the 3 loss team thing).

Now, if they don’t take the easy way out, I think Bama needs Georgia to beat Texas. A win over the SEC Champ would hold a lot more value than a win over a 3 loss SEC runner up. If Texas wins and Clemson were to win, I could see SCar getting the nod for the same value.

How many of the 12 will not have any wins over ranked teams?
Indiana doesn’t I don’t think.
Miami?
SMU?
Penn State? Maybe they have Illinois, not sure.
As of right now, SMU, Indiana, UNLV, Clemson, Iowa St, Miami, & Texas are potential playoff teams that have not beaten a single ranked team. OSU, Penn St, ND, Boise St, & Arizona St have beaten one ranked team. Those wins are Penn St, Illinois, Army, UNLV, & BYU.

I may drop $100 on Miami with their odds. They may screw all 3 teams.
