They tried it with Arkansas, and A&M. Neither worked.

Yeah, sure seems like it....NOT. OU and Utx seem more like butt buddies than rivals.

Sorry you seem to have OU confused with UTerus and CultAggie

Wut? It's always been UTerus.
The vitriol between Aggy/Horn is much deeper.

Hmmm.... Maybe for an Aggie directed towards UTerus. But I have talked to many a Texas fan and they consider aTm like we considered OkieLite. All of them will tell you OU vs. Texas is the bigger rival. Bro... The population of the Dallas Metroplex jumps by like 150k the weekend of that game. No Joke. If you've never been to the game and the Fair during the game, you have no idea how big it really is.

Nah it’s different. In SEC terms the closest comp I can find is Florida-Georgia then Florida-FSU

Even then I’d say OU-TX is bigger than UGA-UF. I grew up around the red river rivalry. It’s no joke. It’s more on par with Ohio State Michigan. To the point where the two states seem to even be rivals.

I lived in Dallas for a while. I've seen the influx of peeps. It's a rivalry but not in the vitriol driven, mean spirited way Aggy/Horn is. Oklahoma will need someone else. It won't be the same in the SEC for Sooner/Horn fans.

Which is kind of crazy. Oklahoma is a lot of barren land with dust.

BlowU dick rides texas to stay relevant. They see what happened to Nebraska when cut off from TX exposure and recruiting. Blow U no matter how many wins will always be nothing but texas’s little bitch.

You obviously never went downtown and hung out around the west end the night before the games then. DPD would always have Riot Police ready hiding out around west end (down where the old Planet Hollywood was) in case a fight broke out (and trust me fights did break out) I was in scuffles myself when I was in school at OU and went to OU/TX. Previous poster is correct, It's a lot like Florida/Georga, but picture it across every bar and hotel in the DFW area, not just in the parking lot around a stadium. They're all full that weekend with OU and Texas fans. If you've never been in the environment, you just don't know..

I love jealously and small peepeeness of aTm fans. Y'all are just like OkieLite fans... I literally had an OSU fan yell at me once at the Bedlam game "You can't spell c*ocks*cker without 'OU'." The look on his face was priceless when without missing a beat I yelled back "Yeah but you can spell it faster with OSU."

We don't need to "dick ride" UTerus. Their damn stadium is named after an Oklahoman, a former OU All American who still holds many records for the Sooners (Darrell K. Royal, Native of Hollis, OK, played DB and QB at OU.). And that dude won UTerus the lion share of Texas' Natties (3 of 4 in fact). UT wouldn't be shite without OU. You all just think you own UT, you don't. And that my good sir doesn't sound like "dick riding".

I guarantee the state of Texas football fans will care less about the OU/Horn game than Aggy/Horn
Aggy/Horn will be bigger this year because of how long it’s been and what’s transpired. But, that’s an anomaly. RRS is always the game circled first.

You shouldn't assume stuff like that. I went just to be in the environment. I had no dog in the fight. Worked out well for me. Remove the state fair and you wouldn't have as many peeps there. The fair gives fans something to do who don't have tickets.

Still, Aggy/Horn is deeper. The hate is vicious. I live in Houston. I'm around both fanbases.

When was the last time folks hung out at the West End Marketplace? That was kind of mid 1990s.

Did you know the OU/TX Rivalry was known as the 'Red River Shootout' for years before 'PC'ness took over and the reason for it was due to both states nearly going to war over an annual bet between both Governors (that still happens today btw). The bet was not held up because of accusations of cheating and bribing the officials. Oklahoma Governor at the time refused to pay the bet, which was one full side of beef from an Oklahoma raised cow. Texas Governor sent Texas Rangers to Oklahoma and they were met in response with Oklahoma State Guard Units, weapons and all. Happened back in the '20's. The name stuck until the mid's 2000's when Political Correctness decided it was "too hostile sounding".

Yet if most UT fans were presented with the choice to lose to either OU or Aggy, I think 9/10 choose to lose to OU.

No it happened up until the Mid-2000's. They also hung out around Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville and other hot spot places. But when I was in school (99-04) it was the West End the Friday night before the game.

Welcome to the SEC. You won't see a whole lot of PC'ness here. I look forward to our game !

Right because it's a more respectable loss. I would rather Lose to Texas than lose to the Pokes... The reason Sooners hate losing to the Pokes is because the Win/Loss record is laughingly lopsided. If you lose to the Pokes, it's embarrassing. And it's the in-state rival... You gotta deal with those mouth breathers all year long... Much like Texas fans have to deal with aTm fans year round. They would rather beat the brakes off aTm every year and call it a day.
