There was, but I'm not sure where that stands after the DOJ/NCAA settlement a couple of months back. The NCAA essentially agreed to toss all transfer rules out the window.
Intraconference transfer rule was changed back in 2021, anyone in the portal before July 1 is eligible next season.

Why didn't A&M just match it?
Because it was done under the cover of darkness.
I’m hearing burner phones were used? Who knows. Let’s see if we can find out whether there is any truth to that… like screenshots or something.

I have been screaming from the rooftops for weeks that this is how CDC works.. no one knows until it is a done deal.. Idk how he does it to be honest, but he somehow doesn't allow it to become a bidding war.
The deal is figured out, and it is signed.. or agreed to.. there is never an opportunity to match.. or at least that is way it appears..

With what coaches? It’s hard to see this coming when you’re literally in the midst of playing for the biggest game your school has seen in almost a century, and your coach is simultaneously pillaging the entire program right under your nose. I don’t think ANYONE would expect that.
So, okay I’m surely sorry.
During LSU’s football coaching search, the aggy poster group made mention of the fact that you have oil money. And lots of it.
And that you’d never have a problem with keeping players or coaches.
I forgot that you weren’t able to pay your coach this yeaR. Thst has to be the reason, right?

Coach PoS quit in April. He was simply collecting a paycheck and working on next year's roster from that point on. He and Texas deserve each other. He's certainly never getting another job after this ...

Sounds like your players/staff were giving A&M a "frick you" for some reason.

I believe it was George Carlin who once said, "In sports, we don't actually pull for players. We pull for the laundry they wear."
We hate players who wear a certain uniform this season but we will love the same player who wears our uniform next season.
NIL may seriously injure our player loyalties...

College sports are broken, and probably will never be repaired.
Imagine being a university now. Get people to pay the players, increase your profitability at the big schools and make tons of cash...with no investment of your own. Pretty sweet gig for NCAA powerhouses.

Aggy knew about this if you know about it. They knew they would have to bring a “we’ve got oil money” offer after Sip offer.
Either,
1. Aggy didn’t want him.
2. Aggy didn’t want to pay over Texas’s offer.
Surely he didn’t leave for a higher prestige job. Right?

nothing would satisfy me more then if LSU strolls into Austin with Laviolette patrolling the OF followed by a trip to College Station

if he quit in April and made it to runner up in Omaha I want LSU to fire Jay and take Schloss.
Oh the places this thread will take us.

A&M didn’t get to counter offer. The entire coaching staff has been planning this heist the entire time.

Why do they hate A&M so much?

He didn't. The players did, actually right after beating Texas in the regionals. Targac and the players were energized by that win. Coach PoS didn't want A&M to advance - harder and harder to hide as the weeks went on. I mean, he didn't even have a smile in any of the PC's come to think of it. As somebody said, the reason he was so hard on the reporter is that he wanted to disappear in the middle of the night ...
No questions.
No questions.

Gay milkmen, bubbles, Newspapers and general Aggie weirdness.

They don’t hate A&M - they just follow their HC and his evil plans. Maybe it’s inexperience or just fear and a lack of moral compass.

No reason for Cain to follow Schloss, he was there before Schloss came. I can understand with Weiner but the other two have plenty of experience in other arenas.
Then there are also the players who supposedly are on board with this coordinated effort to stiff A&M. Doesn't add up.

Del Conte sure does. He always has.

This has been my gripe about college baseball for years: an 18-year-old can sign a letter-of-intent, supposedly bonding agreement, with a college/university, and when the amateur draft takes place is allowed to just walk away from that. It's bullshittee, and always has been. Second, NIL has done in all of college sports. My only take on that is this: if a kid produces, great, you get the money. If they fail, can you fire them? Literally?
