There are many unknowns but this ain’t one of them. Without Travis FSU couldn’t score on Iowa.

I mean last year putting Bama in over TCU would have been, according to your theory, a no brainer. Yet they didn't, hmmm
correct. that was last year. they didn't want to repeat that mistake because the championship game was an absolute DISASTER for ratings.

alabama was a HEAVY favorite against auburn. Oregon was a HEAVY favorite against UW. the game is played on the field, not on paper.

It's supposed to be the four best teams. They picked the four best teams. End of story.

The difference between the 4th ranked schedule and 55th should have weight. Does anyone dispute that?
FSU is out because their wins over Florida and Louisville were boring to watch. But have some more strength of schedule kool aid.

You’re so wrong. And it is this logic that will destroy the credibility of the game. If FSU happens to beat Georgia and Bama wins out chaos ensues. All because of human interference in the process. The actual record of FSU does not mean squat.

Its almost as bad as pro wrestling as far as end results being staged....they aren't necessarily scripted but they are driven by narratives. There has never been an actual national champion college football team because it is not possible to win such a thing on the field...it has always been a beauty contest where the prettiest get asked to the dance. There are too many teams vying for the same championship even though in reality in any given year there are only a couple actually vying for it.
When you remove passion from the game, which started in the 1970s with celebration and taunting penalties, removed tradition when you had Missouri and Arkansas in the SEC, allowed unfettered free agency, no cap on salaries and, in the ultimate insult, made the game unwatchable in person or on TV so you can sell more Dr. Pepper and Allstate Insurance, this is what you wind up with. It is going to get worse next season and going forward when you have teams from California and the Pacific Coast playing in the Big 10 and teams from the midwest (Texas and Oklahoma) playing in the SEC. The game has always been frickes as far as naming a champion is concerned...but now it is fricked nine ways from Sunday. I don't see TV viewership and in person attendance being sustainable going forward. I know it viewership is strong but how much longer is anyone going to watch 4 hours of commercials with 90 minutes of football played by mercanaries in what will still be, if not scripted, at least directed matches????

So there is no line? Liberty should be in over Texas and Bama?

TV and the selection committee absolutely did not want a TCU repeat this year. I don't think football fans wanted it, either.

the ads being sold for the 4 team playoff prove that i'm not wrong. FSU was a hard sell without travis to begin with. When bama beat georgia, it was decided. bama bailed out the committee tbh.

Liberty doesn't move the needle at ALL. they are never making the playoff. even with 12 teams they'll shoehorn in a a power 5 school with 2 losses over an undefeated liberty.

TCU beat Michigan in a thriller and made it to the title game. Not sure what’s so wrong about that.

with max duggan. their starting QB who was really good all year. FSU not having travis sunk their chances of making the playoff. it sucks but it's reality.

True. And the reason undefeated Liberty did not make the playoff is because of their weak SOS. Plain and simple. FSU was #49 SOS. Bama was #8 while Texas was #9. Matter of fact, the top 5 SOS teams were all in the SEC. That mattered. Michigan was #112 and Georgia was #100. I would argue that Michigan had a cakewalk schedule to get to the playoff and really isn't one of the 4 best teams. Yeah, it's a mess this year. Does anyone know who the old computer system would have selected this year? This was as of 11/01/23 according to this article: LINK There are more current SOS ratings out there similar to this one.

Possibly because TCU exposed Michigan as a fraud, also?

quote:FSU beat LSU by 3 TDs on a neutral field. Alabama beat LSU by 2 TDs at home. There’s a line for you. Plus you needed a miracle to beat a rebuilding Auburn. Quit acting like your team stormed the beaches of Normandy. FSU got left out because they’re not as compelling to watch without Jordan Travis. The selection committee admitted as much.
So there is no line? Liberty should be in over Texas and Bama?
