Not even close to being Auburn's best team. Much less top 3 in someone's lifetime.

Agreed sir. 1984 & 2004 were the best teams Auburn has fielded. I am an old fart and seen a lot but that 2004 team was stout and the best Auburn team in my humble opinion.

I think you mean '83. And I agree. Both of those were great Auburn teams.

It pains me to say this now (i didn't really hate bama until saban) but that Teague strip and score was one of the best plays ever.

But the '03 OU offense/team was the best ever

until they met K-STATE and Darren Sproles

2001 Miami is the most overrated team of all time
Extremely weak arse schedule. Nearly lost to VT and BC

It is crazy that the last 3 seasons we’ve had 3 champions that are among the best teams of the century. I think ‘01 Canes is still up there but ‘18 Clemson, ‘19 LSU, and ‘20 Alabama are all similar in terms of on-field dominance and the sheer number of NFL players on their rosters.

That said, let's say I ranked 2010 AU 10th or something, I could nonetheless see a Cam-led 2010 team beating most of the teams ranked above them. And not in a remote, "on their very best day" way (which presumably applies to most schools on the list). He was simply that dominant of a player and had the ability to take over and "refuse to lose."

Lots of fans have a favorite team they believe "refused to lose."

2010 Auburn however is a pretty bad choice. Averaged only 37 points on offense against P5 teams. Gave up an average of 26 in an era where that's rather high for a championship team. Given that this was when Auburn's scheme was not something DCs were familiar with. Flash forward just 4 years when spread schemes and RPOs had become more prevalent, and not only would more teams have been better equipped to defend against that 2010 Auburn offense, offenses would've probably abused that defense the same way they do most defenses these days.

That 2010 Auburn team only had 3 first rounders on their roster, just 2 AP 1st team AAs, and a fairly mediocre margin of victory against both SEC teams, and their schedule at large. Frankly they would've been in over their heads against probably any championship team from 2014 and beyond.

2020 Bama should never be mentioned on the same breath. CFB as a whole was turned upside down. Had Bama won in the manner LSU did for the 2019 season Bama’s roster would have been littered with opt outs

That team won a ton of close games and was very mediocre outside of Cam’s heroics. Not even close to a top 3 team. There were at least three Bama teams and one LSU team better in the last decade alone.
