One does not “ try “ to recruit. Either one recruits or one does not recruit. Paul Bear Bryant did not integrate his program until 1970. Good intentions or any kind of nuance does not matter to The Progressive Race Mob. A million Sylvester Croom’s can write a million truthful defenses, - but that statue has to come down. The Race Mob is hangry. Feel the power of The Mob.

Agree. FTR, it’s a cartoon clown world . We are told we have to turn great men of achievement like Paul Bryant into a derisive cartoon to satiate the appetite of The Mob. You boys gonna defend your ground or be eaten ?

It'd be nice if they could tear down the Saban statue so that someone could make a better one.

Agreed. His statue should have been in continuity with the other four.

Bear Bryant was definitely the most powerful man in the State of Alabama at that time, if Bear Bryant wanted Black Players, with all the power he wielded, he could have found a way to get them if he really wanted

He was arrogant, Bear thought the players HE CHOSE were all it took to win at a high level, how dare outside agitators TELL HIM that he needed to recruit Black Players, he wasn't alone many-most Deep South CFB Coaches felt the same way

My theory is that with all the power that Bryant had, he could have Recruited Black Players maybe a decade earlier than did, not enough of a sin to remove statues or rename bldgs IMO

I do find some of your posts on the current social climate/dynamic interesting and informative, but regarding the above... well, you’re speaking out of your arse.

Down vote. I think we agree on the issue here. I'm just making Bama fans (and all fans) aware of where this insanity goes. Paul Bear Bryant is not even slightly defensible using the Progressive "standards" being applied today. And while it's true that I do enjoy a good sophomoric Gump Troll from time to time, that's NOT what this is. This is demonstrating absurdity through absurdity. They WILL come for that statue.

Fair enough.

You know I don't give a shite about football/sports statues as much. I only care that my city contains this behavior so that it doesn't happen.
