I understand what you are saying. I don't condone any kind of vandalism. That is why I don't do it. It is the eye for eye mentality that is making us all look bad. But I am sure as we speak there is some kind of Auburn redneck planning some kind of retarded attack on something "important to Bama". I for one hope it does not happen. All this guy did was open a can of worms. Its one thing to put a stick on a statue or tape a shirt to it...but is quite another to do something that can cause irreparable damage. I think even though you know what the moron did is beyond stupid you are still trying to justify it.

A lot easier to grow a hedge than a tree. I know LSU would be real pissed if something happened to our trees.

Did he really TP it too? i keep seeing pictures, that like adding insult to injury. DAmn Bama Fans

The hedges have been taken out twice. Once for the 1996 Olympic soccer games, and after the near riot when fans rushed the field after beating UT in 2000. Yeah, people were pissed after that, but not to this degree. Goddamn, they're just trees and hedges

Are you really trying to compare that to what has happened in this situation?

Yeah historical landmark. Anything that old is considered an historical landmark. We have a huge oak that is planted next to our church and the city won't even allow us to have it trimmed or cut back. They have to do it. We actually inquired about having it removed due to its size and how close it is to the church and we were advised due to the age it is considered historical and thereby cannot be cut or moved.

It's already happened and has been happening for years at Elmwood Cemetary.

Where did I ever justify what this guy did? He is a criminal and should be punished as one. Do I think they should lock him up and throw away the key just because self righteous auburn fans are beside themselves that the tree many of them lost their virginity under will dye quicker than originally anticipated? No I do not. They should apply the law and precedent and give him the punishment that fits the crime. Not the punishment au fans think he deserves. That may be 3, 5, 10 or even 20 years. I have no idea.

I think an AU fan did it to stir up trouble between AU AND the Gumps. Updyke was framed to make it appear that a Gump did it!

Both fanbases have a couple of loose bolts. I have no sympathy for either bunch of you or for you Aubbies precious trees. You'd think they were people the way everyone is acting.

Aubbies, you can get them back by pouring a little acid on Saban's hair on the statue. He doesn't like to have messed up hair.

It seems to always be their defense when an au fan does something stupid. I say let's go with it.

My hope is that the book is thrown at him, not because he killed a tree at Auburn, but to make an example out of him. That way maybe people will think twice about doing something so stupid on both sides.

The problem from Auburn's standpoint is that this trial will quickly be moved out of state. Probably to a place where they don't care about football or traditions. This will probably lead to him having a lighter sentence than Auburn fans want.

It is only concrete, just like they are only trees. I think AU and UA fans can agree, it is much more

I hope he moves back to Texas. Guy is a criminal, the justice system will take care of him. If an Auburn person commits a crime against him or UA property then I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent possible and given the maximum sentence.

Then why does the school not do anything to stop the TPing after wins? The school would have a responsibility to protect the trees from damage instead they pressure wash them, which is killing them. The school knows it's killing them, they had replacments growing for when they would die from the pressure washing. Seems like a piss poor way to protect the landmark.

If this guy had a decent lawyer, he could make a case against the school for also causing harm and even endorsing harm done to the trees because of the pressure washing/TPing.

You should probably shite in one hand and hope in the other........

Theres no substitute for what time can do. And everybody knows what they are doing is stupid when they do it. They are just to stupid to care.

Its no different than a fight. Both people in the fight are just as wrong but in the end, the one who gets whooped gets the sympathy
