It's his next best offer because he was committed to Alabama.
POSaban should have cut the cord with him earlier than a week before NSD.

Yes because we all know schools quit extending offers to verbally committed kids.

Shouldn't you guys be preparing for the fambly Armageddon when Clemson hangs 60 on you?

That's not how greyshirts work. They are asked to defer their enrollment for one semester before being awarded a full ride football scholarship.
There's nothing sketchy about it.
I don't have a problem with it if the coach is upfront about it when the kid commits. Tell him that they want him, but if space becomes an issue late in the recruiting process that a greyshirt may be a possibility. If Saban did that then the kid can't complain. But I doubt that he did that. Or maybe the kid was so caught up in the excitement of an Alabama offer that he ignored all the signs that you are not a priority and could have your offer yanked.

Explains Saban winning twice as many national Championships in 7 years as Auburn has in a lifetime.

Asking a kid to delay enrolling at most 6 months doesn't strike me as a piece of shite thing to do. From the looks of it the kid could stand more time to bulk up if he rally wants to play for Bama.

"Insiders" on another board were posting about the possibility of Cole being asked to greyshirt two weeks ago.
I have a hard time believing message board "insiders" knew about this but somehow the recruit didn't.

Does Saban have to pay property tax on that space he owns between your ears?

That's exactly what he did. The kid de-committed because the Bama coaches were still saying "We're not sure" when he asked whether or not he'd be greyshirting.

Auburn asked Elijah Sullivan to greyshirt last year. He was committed to Auburn for almost a full year. Opted to go to Kansas State instead.

Of course, I doubt you'll respond to this. You'll just pretend like you never saw this post and continue to post drivel about big bad bammer.

I am really stunned that some people don't have enough brain cells to grasp the reality that this is nothing to complain about. Delay his enrollment a semester. Big effing whoop.
Seriously...some of you people have fewer brain cells than a turnip.

What is the poor guy to do for 6 months? Especially when bama comes back 6 months later to tell him to hit the road for good.

I don't see what the problem is.

Whatever the hell he wants to do.

considering this guys offer list, rating, etc he should have known this was a possibility. not saying it's right or wrong. but someone should have advised the kid on the potential for this to happen. either way, he gets to play for the tide if he chooses or maybe sign with Auburn. He'd be the most liked player on the team until they lose 7 games and blame their players who dont have the stars

It's ok...you can admit it...you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
But of course, that isn't surprising.
If he chooses to go to a junior college, he goes on his own dime. But since his eligibility clock doesn't start running until the fall of his sophomore year, Saban was willing to commit to paying for a full year of graduate school for this kid. You tell us, genius...which is a better deal for the kid?
Seriously...trying to have an intelligent discussion with some of you idiots is like trying to have a conversation with the lint I cleaned out of the dryer filter this morning.

I guarantee he was told it was a possibility early on. The kids just never think it'll happen to them.

Now I see why you had to go make a thread about it. It wouldn't garner enough attention here.

So all that being said.
The kid is left to the elements for 6 months, hoping to be accepted at bama and mentored by Saban...
All with the possibility that he could be kicked to the curb anyway
