but there's just too much talent to be that bad no matter how good the run defenses are.

There really wasn’t at RB and OL.

We had two plus level starters on the OL, one of whom is barely functional with a bad foot. Our guards have no business starting in Tuscaloosa and one was out. Then throw in a TF RT who really needed a year of S/C to handle edge pressure and bad OL coaching and you get what was one of the worst lines not just in the SEC, but in all of P4 and then threw them up against a gauntlet of nationally elite defenses.

We allowed average first contact with the backs a full yard in the backfield. That’s unimaginably bad.

We struggled with edge pressure all year.

We were horrible with communication where defenders were running untouched at the QB blowing up drives all year.

And does anyone think Hill or Miller start for any Saban Bama team? Absolutely not.

And in case that wasn’t enough we had some of the worst receiver/TE blocking I’ve ever seen. I’m talking safeties running right by a TE with the TE not even putting his hands out like a glitch in a video game. You could put a laugh track on our “attempts” to block the edge and screen passes and make it a comedy reel on YouTube.

And some of the defenses I listed only allow 55% of the season rushing averages for their opponents.

So given that we only averaged 115YPG (114th) against P4 teams if you take half off the top you’re going to see things collapse because once you get down to sub 2YPC with zero explosive plays it’s completely pointless to even call the play.

So no, I don’t agree we squandered a bunch of talent and should’ve been better up front. I think we missed on evals, did a poor job of developing what we had and paired them with the worst OL coach I’ve seen in Tuscaloosa since Bucket Step Bob Connolly under Shula.

We were just a quality intermediate passing team with a top 15 defense until injuries hit and then we just found ways to scratch out wins against an SEC that was apparently grossly overrated this year.

We just weren’t that good offensively.

Unreal Bama stat.....48 rushing yards in last 3 games. And I thought LSU run game was abysmal.

I'm no Jerry Jones, but that seems to be something we need to want to fix. Not fix, just want to fix. Have to start somewhere.

Or defensely. They put up 35+ on you! besides you play about as tough as a PAC 10 team.

You are Eastern Oregon of the North Valley State.

Not sure how or why anyone downvotes any of that.

Because most people are just here to troll and don’t know anything about football.

Well, so long as we avoid being LSU-level bad, that's at least a small win.

I didn't downvote, in fact I agree with a lot of it. However, it's a tough sell when your roster was touted as one of the best in the country.
