Yes, that is it. As I recall it was basically riding on guy wires from the tower to the ground.

Yeah, that makes airborne students terrified. I went as an ROTC cadet but had overcome my fear through a pre-jump school conducted by 20th SFGA. Cannot imagine putting a kid out of that (though Fort Bragg had a miniature version they used for their installation fair).

Maybe it has something to do with youth having no fear.
The two other things that stick out in my mind from that era are seeing two women fighting and rolling around on the ground at base housing while speaking in a foreign language and at the end of the summer in which we left me getting to whip up on another kid who had been bullying me over the summer.
