Q: In the summer of 2010, there was plenty of conference realignment talk. What brought everything back up in 2011?
Loftin: Let me take you back to June of 2009. I was interim president and within a few days of that time, I attended my first Big 12 board meeting in Dallas. Even though the presidents who were there were obviously civil and got along pretty well, it was clear there was some degree of difficulty within the conference then in terms of relationships. I call it the haves and have-nots. It was very clear which schools had money, and we were sort of in the middle of that pack. That’s where I first began to have some degree (of concern) on where the stance of the conference was. In the fall of 2009, we began to hear rumors about UT meeting and talking with the Pac-10. I was actually in Austin in December 2009 meeting with (University of Texas president) Bill Powers. At that point, I had asked everyone but him to leave the room so we could talk privately. I asked him if there was any conversation between him and the Pac-10 and his answer basically was, “I can’t talk about that.” The next month, he was in College Station, and we met in my office. I had the same question, and he gave me the same answer.
Go forward to the April (2010) timeframe…I got a call from (Pac-10 commissioner) Larry Scott indicating he wanted to come see me. Scott shows up here, and we have a meeting. Basically they had been working for months, and he had schedules of not just football but, basketball, soccer and baseball, and they had been working hard on this thing. He did a presentation for us on here’s how we are going to do this. I obviously began discussing this privately with the Board of Regents, and the basic direction I got from them was, “Look, we’ll probably get an offer from the Pac-10 to go join them along with five other schools in the Big 12.” The chairman of the board said to me, “One option is no option. You better figure out what things A&M could do besides follow Texas and other schools to the Pac-10.”

How are you this fricking stupid? You guys negotiated on the behalf of big 12 programs with the PAC behind their backs. When everyone found out, the teams with options found their way out and took it. You guys caused all of this and your stupidity and arrogance keep you from recognizing it

Your link (the credible one, at least) shows that the Pac-10 responded after the Big Ten already announced it would expand.
You will also notice that Loftin's accusations put the rumors of Texas talking to the Pac-10 as "December 2009." And that would be after the Big Ten announced it would expand, and Missouri started showing leg like a whore.

Willful ignorance is an amazing thing.

Facts like PAC fans knew as far back as 2008 that expansion was coming:

I hope this will excite you guys about discussing the 2010-2013 next conference realignment domino drop.
The concept for this thread is that new PAC 10 commisioner pushes for expansion to 12 in 2010 or so and that is the highest tumbler that starts the realignment.

No wait, I forgot. The sip's standard is what major public officials say.
In that case, we can all blame JoePa for the demise of the Big 12. He started it in June 2009:
quote:
"I've tried to talk to the Big Ten people about, 'Let's get a 12th team -- Syracuse, Rutgers, Pitt -- we could have a little bit of a playoff.'"

Are you truly this obtuse? Stupid? Blind?
And Texas was soliciting the PAC, but Missouri is the whore?

Yes we failed to obey. And then we dropped our panties on Bourbon street and showed leg like a whore.
Does it strike anyone else that being in a relationship with texashorn might not be a good place to be in?

If Texas hadn't dropped their panties as soon as the PAC-10 came calling, the Big 12 might still be alive today. But, have a little pity on Texas. It's embarrassing enough that they whored themselves out to the PAC-10 only to be rejected twice--first in 1994 and then again in 2010.

Your reading comprehension sucks dick.
In June 2009, he said things were OK, albeit strained.
Here, let me help you even more:

That winter, rumors swirled that the Pac-10 Conference was looking at siphoning six Big 12 teams, led by Texas. Loftin says he asked UT President William Powers about the rumors during face-to-face meetings in December 2009 and January 2010. He says that both times, Powers said, “I can’t talk about that.”

All this stuff is why I really hope Saban stays at Bama. Texas needs to have their arrogance taken down a few notches, and learn that they can't always get what they want.

Sounds like texas is jelly. Only jealous beyotches call attractive girls hos when they're not getting as much attention.
Must have really stung 'em in austin that some "podunk" school from the Show Me State and some "cow college" they thought was their little brother were more attractive in conference expansion than they were. Hell, I'd be bitter too if I got told to pound sand by the Pac-12 and schools like Notre Dame laughed off prospective invites to my conference

Darlin', my reading comprehension is just fine. I daresay it's better than yours by a long shot.
That's OK, though, I realize you're a little slow. Bless your heart. I'll help.
