I hope he plays and rooting for it
I want Texas to play Sooners at their best
A healthy Mateer prob beats Texas in a close game right now. Though it will be a tight one
But if it’s Hawkins, Texas defense will shut them down… win by a couple scores pulling ahead 2nd half

Good. We have always wanted to play OU at full strength so their whiny fanbase can’t make excuses after another drubbing this year
Hahahahahaha......
Every time you play Oklahoma "at full strength", you lose, so that's not true. Sark's bitchass has never beaten an Oklahoma team that wasn't ravaged with injuries because thats the b8tch he is.

how was the "expected" surgery results different than what happened.
It was a joke tied to the GIF in the OP.

Every hand surgery is different, and Mateer obviously has access to world class surgeons and physical therapists, but here is what I would say based on my experience with a broken finger:
1) assuming they put in a plate, there is not a re-injury risk. It’s about pain tolerance and grip strength. I was out doing sports activities that didn’t directly involve that hand 2 weeks later.
2) it took me 4 weeks of serious physical therapy to do basic activities (carrying weights, using a computer mouse) with that hand and 8 weeks before I felt mostly back to normal in terms of range of motion
3) I never got back 100% grip strength, probably more like 90% (index finger vs thumb)
All that to say, I wouldn’t be shocked if he is playing in some capacity in 2-3 weeks. Especially since he is a running QB. I am a bit more skeptical of his passing - especially deep throws - being back to normal in less than 6-8 weeks with the work it takes to regain grip strength.
