"Not nearly as much looking down noses over drinking in Texas as you find in the south." You mean that Baptist influence that lives in fear that someone, somewhere is having a good time?
Don't hate us because we don't hate.
That is exactly the point....the true south is a fantastic part of the country but drinking and dancing is generally frowned upon...it is not in Texas. Baptists don't dance because they're afraid someone will think they are fornicating standing up. Texans know how to have fun and do so publicly. Southerners, and I am as southern as one can get, are very much concerned with what other people think of us....drinking and dancing is frowned upon. Singing in church is encouraged but drinking is discouraged (still a lot dry counties in the south). The data is readily available....the deep south, both Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee all rank in the bottom third in per capita alcohol consumption. Remove Florida and Louisiana and the others rank in the bottom 10. Texas is in the top 12. Nothing good or bad about any of this but drinking is not as acceptable in the true south as it is in Texas.
Dancing ain't even close. Every Texan I know, and its quite a few having lived in Texas and New Mexico, is not opposed to dancing in public. I have never known a southern male, not openly gay, who openly admitted to enjoying dancing in public. The exception is of course men from Louisiana where dancing is acceptable. It is not in the deep south....outside of trying to get laid and a wedding it is openly derided and rightfully so LOL.

There’s two distinct differences about Texans that make them not southerners. One is they dance. Seriously. Dancing is a big deal in Texas. Dance halls are everywhere and they are a blast. The second thing is Texans drink EVERYWHERE.
This is definitely the most bizarre take on tRant of the weekend. And that is saying a lot.
LOL - It may be bizarre but it is also true. You will not find a dance hall in the deep south where rural white southerners gather together on the weekend to drink and dance. There are places where we gather to drink for certain and there may be some dancing going on....but it is not anything like that which is done everywhere in Texas. Texans will dance in public willingly and without a bit of concern about what anyone thinks.

That kid looks like the fratstar who only got a bid because his dad or uncle paid to have the house built, and always has coked out chores around him because his dad owns a dealership.
So he would fit in at Ole Miss if he had to transfer…

Simply magnificent. The next Clemson tater that asks why we took Texas in over them will be getting that image shoved in their face. Nobody in the history of Clemson could grow such a glorious hairdo.
