Seriously, what was the last year Aggie finished in the Top 5?

quote:

Many more of these bizarre posts about Texas will be coming from aggie fans around here than the SEC regulars will be able to take.

A&M hasn't had a top 5 finish in about 6 decades so they:
1. love to blame Texas for this.....and.....
2. they have learned it is better to start early with the excuses, preferably before the season starts

That is why you are seeing this message at this time complaining about Mack's tactics.

The excitement of A&M's 2011 conference realignment national championship is beginning to wane and they now realize that they actually have to play SEC teams. This is causing a panic among aggie loyalists who know they will need a miracle to go 6-6 this season.

Now, the hurricane is bringing them even more reason to worry. Aggie's new pass happy offense (with a freshman QB) will either be debuted in a severe thunderstorm or (if it is postponed) against Florida's defense. Only a matter of time until Texas is blamed for the storm.

Probably blaming the failure to get the Longhorn Network distributed on us...or blaming Jeff Fisher for Vince Young getting cut from the Bills.

The only reason I started this thread was Texas and MB claiming they are now an "SEC" type team. They have been saying it a lot lately and also got Stewart Mandel to write a similar article. I would find it just as humorous if it were Ohio State making the same claim because they hired Urban Meyer. It's an SEC Board and Texas is claiming to be an SEC team when they are far from it, that seems to be a relevant topic because it is such a stupid thing to say. The thing that makes the SEC great is the schools in the SEC and the quality of their football programs, not a style of play.

Amazing how many of these butthurt Texas fans troll SEC boards though.

We finished 5 in 1956. Numerous top 10 finishes since 80s though. True. The rest of your post is BS - nobody "blaming" Texas. And, no "panic". Most Ags are respectfully excited to be SEC.

That's why they conveniently use the "top 5" finish marker to show how awesome Asspirate U is compared to "Aggy".

The article doesn't read as you portray it. It reads as wanting to play a style of football that we play in the SEC (fast defense, game-managing QBs) and bring that to the Big 12, b/c of the success the SEC model has. Watching 55-48 type games may be fun for the fans, but they don't bring home any hardware and Mack realizes that.

I'm no UT fan, but I don't see the butthurt that you are referring to.

...in their history, Asspirate U had like 20 "top 5" finishes. Their "Top 5 Finish" trophy case is overflowing. All that really means is the media sucks that nutless dong.

Since 1975 (a shite load of things changed since then), A&M has 10 conference championships and AssU has 12.
-------------

EDIT:
Here is the "shite load" of stuff that changed:
1. Scholarship Limits in 1973
2. A&M became a University in 1963 when enrollment was about 8,000.
3. A&M hits 25,000 students in 1975.
4. AssU had over 15,000 students in 1918 and 27,000 in 1966.

It appears that this thread has turned out to be more about A&M than about Texas. Chalk it up to PTSD.

HOLY SHEEP frick!!!

Texas Has SEC-nis Envy...

quote:

Oh, Texas coaches, fans, and players won't admit it because it pains them more than barbwire raked across bare skin, but there's no doubt: Texas is jealous as hell of A&M's move to the SEC.

quote:

Wow, three whole SEC coaches? That almost cancels out the fact that, you know, your biggest rival actually joined the SEC.

quote:

And the Big 12 is a conference full of weak links. The weakest link of all? The school that's trying to pretend it's not even in the conference it destroyed.
