Are you really trying to say that the Arkansas am game is as big as Texas OU? You are outside of your goddamn mind if you believe that. It ain't even close.

And things were slightly different when his dad was growing up as the A&M game had conference implications but the OU game did not.
They were in the same conference (big 12) during his lifetime.

Yeah, you hate it because it's a boring game held in a sterile NFL stadium, and anyone could've predicted that. But back when it was announced your fellow fans on Texags were excited about it. They were certain a matchup between two SEC teams would be more popular than two Big12 teams in the RRS. It wasn't, and it's all because of the venue.
Literally none of this is true.

If you guys were smart you'd work out a deal with the fair and move the game to the Cotton Bowl. The backdrop of the State Fair is a major component of what makes the RRS special and I'd bet they'd be more than happy to have another big event on the docket.
I agree with this . . . . RR Shootout is special for a lot of reasons that don't have to with just the alums or the game. That time is almost always the onset of fall weather after the long hot summer and everyone, football fan or no, loves the State Fair.

Oh it's true alright. Jerry World is a spacious and luxurious but very sterile NFL environment, and lots of Texags people were certain the TAMU/ARK series would rise in stature to the level of the RRS.

It would be bad arse and as a college football fan I honestly wish it would happen.

I don't really care if Texas fans considered A&M a bigger rival--that doesn't change the fact that no other football game is held in a neutral city halfway between two bluebloods, in the middle of a state fair, with each school having fifty thousand of their fans facing each other from across the 50 yard-line, where you truly have "your" territory and "enemy" territory on the field.
This dynamic makes it the best American sporting event to attend, and it's not really close in my opinion. That's not even mentioning that the games themselves are usually bananas.
A&M fans (and other fans) can think what they want. It's awesome having your team be a part of this, though. I consider it one of the four major holidays: Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July and OU-Texas.

I think Texas vs A&M has the potential to be on that level. The Red River game is always a game with national implications and a ton of hate, especially in North Texas. The A&M game was more niche, and one sided in terms of consequence. It’ll remain that way as long as A&M continues to be a mid-tier program, similar to a USC/UCLA.

Umm, yeah. 3000% more is probably a conservative estimate.

The Texas vs. A&M game has a chance to move back into being one of the top in state rivalries given A&Ms resources being similar to Texas. That game could get right up there with the best of them in a hurry.
But the simple fact is that you can't compare in state rivalries to border war type rivalries. And you certainly can't compare the three neutral site rivalries (Red River, Cocktail Party and Army-Navy) to any home and away rivalries.
They are all distinct in the dynamics that make them great.

Of course it is. Red River is second.
