Grew up in Austin and graduated from UT Austin. I told people the 2005 Rose Bowl NC was the greatest day of my life. My wife at the time said "What about me, Cap'n?!", to which I replied "You were there!"

Pretty rough stretch to make that choice. I started at A&M in 1985, just as the streak was starting where A&M won 10 of 11.
Oh yeah…I was pretty accustomed to the Aggies just pounding the horns on a yearly basis. Peter Gardere as our savior back in those days.

Class of '95, McCombs. I enjoyed my time on the 40 Acres and met my wife and made many lifelong friends there. I followed tennis and football mostly, and yeah we were a lot better at tennis during those years than football.
My son just started at A&M this year in engineering. I would have liked for him to have gone to UT-Austin instead, but he didn't get accepted into the exact major he wanted. A&M is more flexible in that you attend a year and then apply for the major instead of being admitted or not as an incoming freshman at Texas (and they tell you up front transfer between majors, even engineering ones, is unlikely).

My greatest bowl trips were the pair of Rose Bowls Texas won in 2005 & 2006. Awesome memories.
I even attended the Aaron Rogers loss during the Holiday Bowl between Texas Tech and Cal in 2004. It was fantastic to see that due to the complaining Rogers made over the bowl selections and then the win over Michigan a week later.

Second generation
The obsession from A&M this week is honestly flattering, I must say

I am a Texas Ex member, but grew up a LSU fan and lived in SE Louisiana most of my life. I always liked Texas though since I was a kid,
You're daughter wouldn't have politics pushed in her face unless she chose government. Even my 6 credit hours of government classes were very objective and taught the material. You sound out of touch.

Texas grad. Want the Longhorns to win all the games. But would prefer my daughter (12) to go elsewhere due to over the top liberal culture there now.

This can be said about waaaay too many schools now. It's a shame.

Very true. In truth if she ends up going to a big school I'd love it if she goes to A&M. We're Catholic and they have an awesome Catholic student life program there (long story but I was actually baptized there at St. Mary's when I was engaged to an Aggie!). Anyway my best friend's daughter just went off to Blinn and said they have 1500 kids at mass every Sunday morning.
They do not have 1500 kids at mass every Sunday morning in Austin!

You are right, and I did. She's strong, smart, confident and has a good head on her shoulders. She also has the talent to pitch in college but not sure if at Texas-level.

He's not out of touch. My daughter went there 4 years and graduated 2 years ago and some of the s*** she brought home that she was told up there by her professors was f****** disgusting. Thankfully I raised her right and that toxic poison has been exercised but the stories I could tell

ETA: Admittedly I'd laugh.

Man the years before Mack Brown were brutal. Aggies just owned us for about 7-8 years. We did beat them in 90 with David McWilliam's team that went on to get drubbed by Miami in the Cotton Bowl (I was there). Just brutal.

I graduated in 2019 and never experienced that once. But you sound out of touch too. EVERY university will have liberal professors and SOME will say their opinions while going on rants on stuff. This is where you are out of touch with reality. Math and cs professors do not go on political rants so I never heard it. and my American history and government professors never went on rants either.

You may not have but she sure did and she was in the computer science program. Granted most of that s*** they get out outside of class with all the progressive b******* being pushed by Outsiders indoctrinating those kids. It's a real problem and it's worse at Texas than most other schools in the SEC and you're out of touch if you don't realize that.
Yes all schools have this s*** like draggyland but I guarantee you the pressure from the progressive left on the students is much worse in Austin.
