What's interesting about Texas this upcoming year is how little of an introduction they have to the SEC.
They play OU and Texas A&M. While both are SEC members, they're 2 of the 3 newest members that Texas could play and they're teams TExas as a program has a lot of experience playing.
They also play Vandy and MSU who are projected to be the two worst teams in the SEC.
They also play UF who is a big 6 team but is projected to finish 3rd worst in the SEC (in part due to them being kind crappy right now, in part because they have a very tough schedule).
That leaves Arkansas (projected 4th worst in the conference), Kentucky (a mid-tier team)...
and their one real "welcome to the SEC" opponent. UGA. They don't play them until 10/18.
It's not their fault. But it's also not a real representative schedule in terms of what it's like to play in the SEC like A&M and Mizzou got.
A&M opened their first season in the SEC with a game against a Florida team that finished in the top 10. They also played Auburn, LSU and Bama (big 6 teams)
Mizzou's first SEC game was against a UGA team that finished in the top 5. They also played Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Alabama from the big 6.
Texas isn't getting that kind of welcome. they play 2 of the big 6.
OU is. They play 4 of the big 6 as well as an Ole Miss team expected to be good and a Mizzou team that is a bit of a question mark but was top 10 last season.
Texas could have a good year but end up losing to OU and beaten handily by UGA and make the playoff at 10-2. But they really won't know what a normal SEC slate will be like because they got a bit of a light draw for their first season. It won't be until their schedule flips that they go "Oh... I get it now."

It’s all true. Unfortunately in the recesses of a lot of SEC fans minds they can see something is changing. Hanging on to the truths of Texas past in the Big 12 is your security blanket that you don’t want to get rid of. It helps you sleep at night. This is why we have a never ending feed of Texas posts from non-Texas fans.
You’re mad that we are gaining traction just at the time we are entering the conference instead of being able to jump on a beat up kid.
No, it’s a fight you’re going to have to have. You’ll win some, but you’ll lose more than you win.
You don’t want to think the Boogeyman exists. But it does, and you know it does. That’s why you’ll continue to clutch that blanket tightly until the closet opens.

What’s hilarious is that a&m fans say they’re better off, which would literally be impossible without winning the national title in 2025 (which every aggie poster is too pussy to predict despite claiming otherwise)
Poooooooooor aggies

We are going to own every sport in this entire conference and you know it. Things have changed.
If OU owned you in the Big12 what makes you think Bama and Georgia (and OU for that matter) won’t own you in the SEC?
Maybe even Vandy? Don’t they have scoreboard on you?

1. I fundraise for the largest Texas Exes chapter
2. I have 100’s of friends that are Texas Exes
You realize this board isn’t real life right?

There you go again, Archie. Wanting people to make absolute (annd utterly impossible) predictions about the future. Your obsession with this is f’ing weird, and it’s not a good take.
As far as JS, I don’t think you fully comprehend how much animosity his actions stirred up. And leaving to go coach somewhere else is only about halfway down the list of reasons why. But I’m not going to debate this with you. We absolutely do not want that man back anywhere near our program.
But have at him.

I get the sentiment, but the Big12 wasn’t trash. Take a look at how the teams fared in their bowl games vs other conference. I know bowl games don’t matter in this era, but it’s something to compare.

Come on Sarge. I don’t know you well, but I know that you know that is the post of a troll.

How can you say the team will be better if they don’t win the CWS? Are you saying that these predictions about the team were exactly what we all suspected: posturing due to coping about Texas taking the greatest asset in aggie athletic program history without breaking a sweat?

quote:Dont want the single most successful men’s head coach in aggie sports history because he took an obvious promotion and agreed the flagship is located in Austin like everyone outside of college station also believes?

You honestly think I’m going to actually have a conversation with you when you post this bullshite?
I should have known better than to even make an attempt. You insufferable assholes are worse than ever.
Go away.

Texas got complacent as a huge, fat fish in a really small pond. They are in much better shape now and coming in hungry. They won’t dominate but I expect them to compete with the elite of the conference.
