But seriously, Aggies are naturally pretty pumped up because the team ACTUALLY IMPROVED GAME TO GAME.
Ending the season on an high note, dominating our bowl game, and playing out best football. That is is the cause or optimism, it isn't just blind faith or arrogance.

Our regular seasons were comparable. LSU had 2 quality wins over A&M and USCe while A&M had 1 quality win over Bama. But IMO beating Bama > beating USCe and A&M
Then add the awards given for regular season performances and I give a small (homer) edge to A&M.
Add the bowl season and no objective person thinks LSU 2012 > A&M 2012. It's written in black and white in the final rankings.

Instead of participating in this flame fest... I'll just respond to the OP.
At this point in time the safe bet would be for A&M to finish higher in the SEC west than LSU.
That being said, we will see what happens when the season is actually played. Its not uncommon for the "safe bets" to be the wrong bets.
