This poll of Aggie fans says differently.

Aggie fans consider their rivals in terms of strength to be:
Texas
LSU
Alabama

I grew up in Texas as an Oklahoma fan. The sense I always got from Texas fans (which is most of my non-immediate family, a few of whom were Alumni), was that they viewed Oklahoma as the main rival because both schools have historically been national powerhouses, and the winner of the Red River game usually woke up the next day in the National Championship race. That's why the Texas-Oklahoma rivalry isn't as hate filled as most rivalries, both schools respect each other to some degree. Texas never respected A&M.

The best analogy I could come up with is that Texas is the taller, smarter, and better looking of the two Texas brothers, and it drove little brother Aggie insane. So the Thanksgiving game between Texas/A&M was just a yearly opportunity to finally shut little brother up. Texas' main concern was trying to outcompete his equally tall, athletic, and good looking rival across the street(Oklahoma).

It would take losses to both Western Carolina and Vanderbilt for us to be considered in the same realm of shame in which piggie has placed itself.

There's a better chance of Fat Bert using stairs

An embarrassment would be playing Bert and scoring zero points. I honestly don't even know how that's possible

Right. Texas didn't view A&M as a rival.

They did, but it wasn't the same type of rivalry or as big for them as the one with Oklahoma.

There was probably even more vitriol for A&M from Texas fans than Oklahoma. The difference was that usually the game didn't have as many implications for Texas.

Though, if you want to measure schools in terms of hatred for their Rival. A&M hated Texas more than probably even Miss. State hates Ole Miss. I would bet you that if you had taken a poll of Aggie fans 5 years ago, about 80% of them would be willing to trade ever having a winning season for the promise of beating Texas every year.

Made thread a few days ago wishing SEC would have picked up tu.

Sounds like you always dreamed of going to Texas or Oklahoma but couldn't get in and went to Oxford like everyone else.
