He is a WAC loser who is loved by other fanbases because they can kick the shite out of him at will. Dumbass decisions like this are a welcome sight to me. Each one makes his termination in the very near future more and more likely.

Assuming anything that you're saying has validity (and I'm not sure it does)...
So you're admitting the kid struggled with whether to go out of state due to his Dad's health issues? Doesn't that even further validate what he wrote to ESPN? That maybe he's unhappy because he's concerned for his Dad?
You've already shown precedent that you're not going to let kids go who are just "unhappy" (i.e. Bryce Brown). But I don't recall him having a story with any kind of validity like Arnett's.
Let's hope so. I try not to depend on the NCAA to make rational decisions on, well, anything given their track record.
The firing of his coach may have been the straw that broke the camel's back but it's pretty sad that you're throwing this kid under the bus when from all accounts he acted like he half way gave a shite about your program (vs. the rest of your team that flat quit on Dooley in the UK game) AND actually went to class/did what he was supposed to do.

i know for a fact that arnett dad's had health issues coming into UT. that is one of the reasons it was such a close recruiting battle with them.

so, should we allow him to leave and go to his #2 choice school? if so, this sets a bad precedent for kids to leave after there first year for any reasonable measure if they are "unhappy" with their current status.

i think dooley did the right thing, and if the NCAA does not think so, they will grant him a release.

There's a good chance his record will take care of that on it's on next year.

I know Dooley felt fricked after that LSU game last year, but trying to run off the field without shaking CLM's hand was douchy and he should've known better given Daddy's credentials. Good for Les for tracking him down. Frickin shite bag.

what Dooly is doing to that young man will not end well for the school or Dooly

I don't completely disagree with Dooley's stance in this situation but like most the UT fanbase my confidence In him is quickly eroding. As stated earlier in this thread whether Arnetts being a POS or not the correct PR decision was obvious
Always have thought that was a very classy thing of CLM to do instead of being like most Coaches and just walking away and bitching about it later

dooley is a momma's boy. he doesn't understand the bond between father and son.

dooley does tell funny jokes and zingers though. prob the only reason he still has a job.

Horrible move by Dooley. Such an a-hole thing to do.

Well keep enjoying the show because he is here for at least two more years, regardless of record. The anti-kiffin contract all but guarantees that.
For the record, I actually support his decision. Arnett clocked in historical numbers as a freshman for UT.
Bad PR? Dooley won't let you transfer to Michigan(St.) next year if something bad happens.
That's not the message to send to recruits. Don't worry if you become displeased next year Mr. Santos, you can play A&M the following fall.
Point being is that he weighed the Michigan and Michigan St offer, decided to committ to Tennessee where he received plentiful playing time. Just so happens his dad is still in bad health and his posistion coach got axed now he wants to leave.
Dooley granted his leave just not to the the big two in michigan.
If he wanted to leave for FAMILY reasons then Central Michigan should be a no brainer. He steps in a starts day one at the D1 level.
I seriously doubt Dooly is heartless person that wants to see DeAnthony suffer because his Dad is in bad condition. We see nothing behind closed doors.

Coaches recruiting against Dooley will mos def use this against him. Bad PR and bad recruiting move all to keep this kid from playing for 2 second rate schools in Michigan. Brilliant

Tennessee WR DeAnthony Arnett said Thursday he wants to transfer to a school closer to his ailing father in Michigan. Arnett wants to be released to UM or MSU, says UT will release him to MAC schools. Arnett said his father has had two heart attacks, dialysis and a series of surgeries. A Tennessee spokesman said Arnett is not being denied the opportunity to be released and play FBS-level football and that the school has a policy of not releasing players to schools UT plays or recruits against.
I can't even begin to relate how shocked I am at this. :sarcasm:

As if it mattered for this school under this leadership

The people in charge liked Dooley, but certainly lacked confidence in his ability to win. That was before this sesason. Hart isn't thrilled with Dooley, either. Our donors are finally willing to open the check book, and we have an athletic director who is open to spending money. Dooley has to get things going really quick or he's done.

This is why I want to see Dooley stay at UT. With the type of talent he'll be pulling in because of blunders like this Vandy will start having their way with UT.
