I had rather get burned on occasion than giving 15/20 yards in a prevent d.

I think you underestimate that 2001 LSU team, their familiarity with Tenn from those games those few years home and away. Saban's arise and the LSU fanbase desire for Atlanta glory, having never been before.

That, and the fact that Tenn was not as good as advertised, nor wanting any part of that Cane team in Rose Bowl(possibly best ever along with 95-96 Neb, etc..)

That defense giving up 59 is what did it for me with the Chief of Mediocrity.

Fun trivia fact of the day

Cameron Newton's 2nd career rushing touchdown came in the final minutes of that game.

Looks like fatso should have worried more about his program than what Alabama was doing and recruited some decent players.

Tennessee fans bagging on Chavis
Is hilarious.

Was Tennessee's defense really so terrible under him? I'm surprised at the number of Vol fans unconcerned with LSU's total defense/scoring defense-ranked 9th/5th nationally.

Even the infamous Third and Chavis has developed a new meaning on da bayou.

I guess I'm just surprised at the venom directed at the man that sculpted your defenses for so long. Some very good ones. Though, the one he has this year may be his best yet. Time will tell.

Our defense was never terrible under Chief, and that's the infuriating part. We play lights out, balls to the wall pressure on 1st and 2nd down, have a team by the short curly ones on 3rd and long, and we play the infamous prevent Mustang package. The UGA hobnail boot debacle was my final Chavis straw.

The reason we are unconcerned with his defense this year is because it doesn't matter. We couldn't stick our thumbs up our asses with a road map on offense this year. There are no delusions of the golden arm of Rick Clausen coming in and winning the game for us this year.

I doubt this LSU defense will be his best ever. We have had some superstars and incredible talent on defense.

My other big gripe with Chavis was with halftime adjustments, or lack of them. Hell, that was a trademark of our entire team during the Fulmer regime.

I wish the Chief well, and hope he has a long and great tenure at LSU. He will pad his stats on Saturday.

Chavis has always been a good DC

better players = better defense
