The fact that Bama hasn't made a tourney appearance in 5 years while Tennessee was on the verge of a Final Four just last year and is recruiting at a high level

And? USCw hasn't played in a bowl the last couple of years, doesn't mean I think TCU is a better football program.

Looking at a 5 year period is a solid measure of the health of a program

i always find it amusing when the school has three guys dedicated to finding a new coach and they still drop $50K+ on a consulting firm

Probation, loss of 1 possibly 2 scholarships at the most.

It's healthy enough to win big. Especially since it appears that Hopson and Harris will both be back.

Yeah, but you guys need to pump the brakes if you think you can get Bamas, TAMU, or Pitts coach. UTk has a solid BB program, but it's no UK.

Actually Pitt wasn't a power at all before Dixon got there. He built their program. It was middle tier, and from 2003 on Dixon took it into elite status

He also makes 1.3 million dollars. Which is about 800,000 less than Pearl was making base pay before the sanctions, and about half of what UT would be willing to offer.

No, both have said they will test the waters, but neither will hire an agent.

Hopson will probably go if he's definitely in the first round. - he's not

Harris was on the radio yesterday saying unless he's assured a top 15 pick he's back - he's anywhere from 22 - 32 on CBS, ESPN, NBA Draft and so on.

Both have said their return is likely, and they look forward to meeting with the new coach.

I think this is a pretty big factor. They do not enjoy coaching against each other at all, if they could avoid it they probably would.

Bama to UT in basketball is not a lateral move. All of these guys are possibilities.

I'll say it again, all of you rival fans are underestimating how good the UT bball gig is.

Laid the foundation, but definitely didn't take them to elite status.

If what Howland did made Pitt an elite basketball school. Pearl turned UT into the best basketball program in the nation.

Ben Howland built the Pittsburgh program. After he bolted to UCLA, Dixon was promoted to HC and has done well, but he had a lot of help in taking "it into elite status".

The guy does suck at tournament time, though.

See previous post. He laid the foundation. No way you can argue he built an elite program.

4 years. 1 NIT, and two sweet sixteens. Explain to me how that is elite?

it's like your ignorance knows no bounds.
